A quick question for Bester, Trollheart and the other oracles.
I found this "Crusade" running order on the Lurkers guide with a note saying JMS feels this is better than the broadcast order.
EP9 103 Racing the Night
EP11 101 The Needs of Earth
EP10 102 The Memory of War
EP2 107 The Long Road
EP12 104 Visitors from Down the Street
EP3 106 The Well of Forever
EP13 105 Each Night I Dream of Home
EP5 110 Patterns of the Soul
EP4 109 The Path of Sorrows
EP6 111 Ruling from the Tomb
EP7 112 The Rules of the Game
EP1 108 War Zone
EP8 113 Appearances and Other Deceits
Any thoughts ?
How can EP1 be second last:rolleyes:
The formally endorsed 'chronological' order by JMS;
1. War Zone (108)
2. The Long Road (107)
3. Ruling From the Tomb (111)
4. Appearances and Other Deceits (113)
5. The Memory of War (102)
6. The Needs of Earth (101)
7. Racing the Night (103)
8. Visitors From Down the Street (104)
9. Each Night I Dream of Home (105)
10. The Path of Sorrows (109)
11. Patterns of the Soul (110)
12. The Well of Forever (106)
13. The Rules of the Game (112)
The numbers at the end are production codes.
Although JMS actually prefers the list you mentioned above himself.
It just goes to show. No matter how many times you watch B5, there's always something new.
Watching the episode (series 1: TKO?) on FX+ at present, they've just shown the scene were Ivanova meets her rabbi from Russia. The book she's reading before he arrives is Working without a net by Harlan Ellison, who was also the creative consultant for the series.
Can't remember which episode it is, think it might be Day of the Dead, but Harlan does the voice of the elevator when it gets a cranky new programme, much to the irritation of Garibaldi.

Talking of which even what are commonly regarded as by far the worst B5 eps, TKO and Gray 17, have cracking b-stories
I'm following the order posted by Bester for Crusade now:
Order (EP no) Title:
4 EP8 Appearances and Other Deceits.
It was okay. Another appearance by a familiar actor and and a new race (very briefly) Didn't move the story ARC on (apart from the very end, which felt like an afterthought)
5. EP10 The Memory of War
The plots been done before a thousand times in sci-fi and drama. Side story (even if a bit romcom) is better.
I'm getting a nagging feeling that the Crusade EP's are very episode centric, more like ST. They are very self contained which after B5 feels a bit of a disapointment but i'm gonna plug on.
Speaking of spotting actors in B5 EP's/Movies can anyone get the "24" connection in "A call to Arms"?
Answers on a postcard please

I gave up on Corrie years ago, after Richard the nutter bashed poor Emily Bishop over the head (I know she was dull but come on) and then drove the family car into the canal!!
Thats easy. The first story is utter tosh but the second story was pretty good.
there are 2 good reasons to get/watch "The lost tales":
CGI: The exterior shots of the station and ships are beautiful. This is how B5 would of looked if made a decade later. It shows how far CGI has come as B5 was cutting edge CGI for TV when it was first made.
Features: The set of Interviews and behind the scenes stuff is a bonus for B5 fans. I love the Sheridan/Galen sock puppet scene

:
I admit I initially thought that, but having rewatched TLT I now see that the first story was an incredibly clever foil to the second. One was all action, intrigue, Starfuries and Centtauri, while the other was quiet, dark, menacing and a great morality tale. The guy who played the Devil was excellent.
Really enjoyed both stories (with the exception of the inclusion of Galen, who I don't like --- I know the second story couldn't have worked without him, but what about, say, Elric?), and wish JMS had reconisdered and made more.
I thought that the Sheridan story worked incredibly well with Galen as the vehicle.Elric just wouldn't have worked in the same way IMO.
The first story, whilst better in retrospect is, IMO, still fairly weak. However, you are right, its function as foil to the second story is serviced well enough.
The next volume of TLT would have been a Garibaldi story, and a Londo story. Particularly gutted that they never got made.

Cheers Bester,
I might go with this one.

I believe that might be Mr Almeida......
Crusade follows a similarish format to B5. The first year was all about setup.
The next episode to have been filmed, had they continued, would have been Crusade's equivalent of B5's Signs & Portents (from season 1).
When you've finished, research the series bible, you'll get a sense of how the scope of the series would have expanded a lot, like B5 did.
Edited the above as i had the EP's wrong:o
5 EP10 the memory of war.
I liked this one. The episodes with Galen in do seem to be better.
Bonus point for anyone who can the get the CORRIE link?
6. EP11 Needs of Earth.
Self contained story that didn't really move anything on. Maybe JMS's nod to any Totalarian regimes weve had on earth?
7. EP9 Racing the night.
Another good one that gives more background on the main arc story.
Whedon, Yeah I know:D

Way to dangerous in Whetherfield now:eek:
Presumably John St Ryan?
You obviously missed him earlier in an episode of B5.....
Bester you the Man:D He's was Bett Lynch's bloke, a trucker IIRC.
Was he in the B5 episode about the strike?
Latest Crusade watch:
Visitors from down the st (EP12).
Okay. Very X files!
Each night I dream of Home (EP13)
Best episode so far. Such a shame TNT pulled the plug if this was a sign of things to come.
I'll try to watch a couple more tonight.
i rule on a different level
Not great but my jouney is coming to an end. "B5 The lost tales" next.
Hmm, two stories, one  the other
I'll let you figure out which is which!

"SLEEPING IN LIGHT" tonight
I agree, overall, TLT, well worth a watch. The CGI as you say is superb.
It's a shame that they didn't do more of these as I think they actually worked quite well. Only half hour stories but very good vignettes.
SiL - Perfect way to end your B5 experience.
