An original video to Call Me

Yes, they obviously hadn't filmed or inserted the 'Debbie in NYC' bits yet.

Majestic song!! My opinion of their finest often varies, but this one is certainly up there.

God, talk about a patchwork video.
I'm not sure if there ever was an official video?

To think you can now edit together better videos just on your phone these days.

Is this a video they can't show?

Maybe the BBC have had a windfall.

American Gigolo, the film that used Call Me

It's a specially constructed video made by the BBC.
    Don't think it's been aired since 1980

That TOTP left me feeling a bit unfulfilled tonight - just 5/10.

The video to 'Call Me' I remember seeing on the likes of VH1 only lasted for half the song.

Apparently John Lennon was tempted to come out of retirement when he saw the video for 'Coming Up' by Paul McCartney and decided to make an album...

What did piss John off was that Paul could actually play every instrument he was seen playing in the video. Whilst being a good guitarist, John was a ropey pianist and awful drummer.

That's the Marlboro British Grand Prix, then.

Ooh must rush out and buy a packet! I don't actually smoke, but hey... :D

Wonder where the vid of Debbie cartwheeling along the beach is.

That particular video was made for an official VHS video towards the end of the decade - looks great but only lasts for about half the song.

And another TOTP ends too quickly! 'Geno', on its way to number 1...

There's no TOTP next week due to "The Sky At Night" so that's it for a fortnight... :(

Mmm, couple of good bits. Nice to see The Cure's debut and the fabulous 'Call Me' at Number 1 but little else of much quality tonight for me. Not a patch on some of the recent episodes we've seen. 5/10.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Maybe the late edition will be a bit better with the 'missing' performances.

Bit of a mixed bag that one - having "A Forest" makes it a notable edition, but cutting it off before the climax spoiled it a bit!

Not the best I agree... I liked Johnny Logan and Blondie, plus Paul McCartney, Bobby Thurston and The Groove at the start, whoever sings that!!

Rodney Franklin does 'The Groove'. :)

Due in no small part to Giorgio Moroder. Truly, we are not worthy!

In a bizarre coincidence they just used a snatch of Call Me on the Watchdog 30th Anniversary programme on now on BBC1. And now The Cure - A Forest!

Yep, you can just imagine Jimmy Pursey sitting at home watching this and thinking "SO I HAVE INFLUENCED SOMEONE".

    Amended for volume. :)

Not a bad episode 7/10. Liked Blondie, Macca and David Essex best. Big fan of The Cure and it was good to see their debut but have never liked A Forest. Cockney Rebels were appalling

No, you're right. Punk lasted, what? 18 months?

Obviously at least five years judging by tonight's show.
