She looks well cute with short hair in the new Loreal ad, then she opens her mouth and that Geordie accent is just so grating.

She should keep it. Not really a fan of the lass, but fed up to the back teeth of people from the North East who have to lose their accents just so folk down south can 'understand'. Denise Welch, Robson Green and Sting, in particular.

People seem to understand her fine, so she should keep her accent. One quality about her I like a lot is her taking pride in her background. Too many people try to change when chasing success in showbiz.

Not a fan but I love her accent, it's not rough sounding, she's already toned it down a lot.

If she came back from LA 'a la' Catherine Zeta Jones, she'd be accused of forgetting her roots.

Christine Bleakley is another woman who gets criticism for her accent, and Tess Daly, it's really insulting.

I like the way she speaks but if she wanted a career in the USA she would have to drop the accent as was proved when she tried...

Don't be so ignorant! Her accent is part of who she is and is perfectly fine!

    Huh?

Surely having an opinion has nothing to do with ignorance.

I like Cheryls accent and find it quite charming. Prefer her talking to singing.

You'd like the even stronger ones up here then, assuming you're below the North East.

No her accent is fine. I am not a fan of hers (her singing) because she isn't very good at it, but she has a cute accent.

She definitely needs elocution lessons if you listen to her current advert. "It's like wa-er on my lips" and "a splash of shii" which creases us up because it sounds like "a splash of shi*e".

She doesn't have to lose her accent to speak well.
