You searched by User Name or Key Words?

Your name is unlikely to be in the title or in the content of a thread if you searched for Key Words.

The search on here has been a bit glitchy for me for a week or so.

I either get that same message or I get results that don't contain the word I am searching I for.

If someone quotes your post, your name will appear in their post and you can find all such posts by searching for your own username.

Which bit are you searching on?

The search function on here has always been a bit dodgy for me.

Click the 'Search' at at the top of the page to get the little pop-up.

    Type in your own username.

Select 'Show posts' and click Go.

It's not working for me right now.

    I get:

    Message

    received zero-sized searchd response

Me too. It works when I am on my PC at home but not at work. Exact same search terms etc. Weird.

I get a weird glitch if I use my computer at work.

I can't reply to posts on the forum or in PMs (where the original post is quoted in my post).

It works fine on my computer at home.

I put it down to some sort of security feature on my work computer. It used to work fine until fairly recently.

Same here. I thought it had fixed itself. I did report it to Forum Support a couple of weeks ago, but heard nothing back.

Ditto 'zero length' and other messages for straightforward searches where the keyword was in the thread.

I also had a glitch day before yesterday where I got email notification that someone had pm'd me, but it never appeared in my DS inbox. Luckily it was readable on Google anyway.

One thing I did try which seemed to work. On the Advanced Search tab, there is a function at the bottom to Clear Search Preferences.

Try that, because it did work for me for a while after. Now it's goosed again though.

Yep. I have to search like 3 times for the same thing before it works.

I've had similar results for weeks.

Yesterday, for example, I searched for "Obama Canada" and got the same "received zero-sized search response" that the OP mentions.

Funny thing was, I tried exactly the same search again a few minutes later and it worked correctly.

Sometimes, even if I just click my own name then click "find more posts by this member" (as a means of reminding myself what topics I've been involved in recently) I'll get a "There are no results to display" message.

Just tried it on a couple of less common words posted in a thread, and got 'zero size' for all of them (each post was open in another tab at the time too).

And I've noticed that the problem where if you move an emoticon around in a reply box the arrow keys seize up until you exit the box (I have to use point and click to manouvre) has now spread to text as well

I realise it is a sideways step but - please try this search on the argos website - www.argos.co.uk

    Search for - pruning saw

It returns with some "closest matches" which you can select. Try them.
