Christmas tree down already?

just spoke to a friend who told me she's taken her Christmas tree and decorations down this morning and it's all back to normal now.

Bit premature for me. I like to spread it out until at least the day after New Years day.

Anyone else all packed up and back to normal now?

I'm tempted. It just irritates me after Christmas is by.

Yes I know what you mean. I woke up this morning thinking 'that's it, all over now'.

Will keep up the decorations until after the New Year though :)

I take mine down on January 2nd. I think it's nice to keep it up till the new year.

The only people I know who take their decorations down early are those who put them up early eg in November or the first day of December. By the time Christmas Day has arrived, they re sick and tired of them! We put ours up relatively late and so they are still giving us pleasure. Christmas goes on for at least another week in this house! :)

Spot on actually. My friend has had hers up since end of November.

Mine went up about the 15th so I'm not quite sick of them yet. Definitely like to have them up for new year.

Ours has been down twice already. The cats discovered it and wrestled it to the ground the day OH put it up. Earlier today they had it down again so it's being put out of its misery even as I type this.

Yep, all mine has gone in the garage this morning. I love my tree but the xmas clutter starts to annoy me once it's all over so it's gone now and my house feels normal again.

Even though Christmas is technically over, its still the Christmas period for us, we've had the build up, we've had the xmas day, and now its the christmas wind down until the new year.

We get our tree a week or 2 before xmas, and keep it up until a few days after the new year, normally the 1st weekend after New years day as thats when we've got the time and feel most suitable.

Plus having the tree up always gives off a cosy feeling when chilling out on the sofa with the open fire lit, nibbles underneath it, and films or dvds at the ready along with different beverages in the corner cupboard

Does she not realise that Christmas is a 12-day festival? Decorations go up Christmas Eve and come down on the twelfth night. If one isn't going to do it properly, according to tradition, one might as well not do it at all.

I suppose it's a bit like watching a porn movie AFTER sex. Uninteresting, boring and pointless 😁😁

But you can have sex on each of the twelve days of Christmas, and therefore keep the porn poised at the ready.

I take mine down whenever I feel like it, there's no rule as far as I'm concerned. I haven't really thought about it yet.

    I would if I could.

I'll probably take them down when my brother is back at his day centre it's easier to do when he's not there

Tree went up on Christmas Day, it would be a bit daft to take it down after 2 days!

So no. Twelve days of Christmas and all that.
