Cheers is on CBS Drama and they have started to show it right from the start. You can also bet it won't be edited, unlike the ITV 4 version which I will put every penny I have on that it is an edited version according to ITV's strict 'guidelines'...
I am on Virgin Media and only have CBS Reality and Action channels, not CBS Drama. It's good to see the Season 1 episodes of Cheers which ITV4 are currently showing. I'm sure I've seen many of them before but they still appear fresh.
I'm also on Virgin Media and a few months back noticed the other CBS channels advertising showing Cheers from the start. Sadly I soon realised I didn't have Drama.
The episodes shown during the week will be repeated on Saturday and Sunday mornings, some of you may be pleased to know. This week 8 episodes will be shown (2 per day, no new episodes will be shown on Thursday due to football). 5 of these will be shown again on Saturday and 3 on Sunday.
One of the comedies I've been meaning to check out in the last couple of years. Watched the two episodes last night and found it pretty good. Have now put Season 1 on my rental list on LoveFilm.
According to Digiguide, it's in HD. So have they just cleaned the old prints up or have they went back to the negatives and obtained a new 16:9 print for it like they did with Friends?
EDIT- The HD prints are 16:9 in America but for some reason, ITV 4's prints are 4:3.

We are getting the better deal then as it will have been filmed in 4:3. I'm so used to ITV messing thing like this up (note the films in 16:9 rather than 2.35) that this is a pleasant surprise.
I am a huge huge huge fan of Frasier, its my favorite show of all time but I had never got round to watching Cheers - had always meant to but never had the time. I remember seeing the odd episode when I was a kid but realy couldnt remember much at all. When I saw ITV4 were showing them from the start I thought it was the perfect opportunity. Unfortunetly Im on Virgin Media so dont get it in HD (grrrrrrrrrrrrr !).
Well I must say I am loving it so far. Sam and Diane have so much chemistry and Norm is a legend. The first season is not quite perfect (for me anyway), as I am not warming to Coach at all (old man saying stupid things over and over is just not funny to me), but thats my only minor gripe. Realy looking forward to the future episodes.

True, but going back to the master and obtaining a new 16:9 print does not mean you are watching a 4:3 picture zoomed in to 16:9, it actually means you are watching the same 4:3 picture but now with the black bars at the sides opened up and more of the screen is visible that you wouldn't have seen before. The 4:3 version would have been made form this new 16:9 transfer and in the process a slight bit of picture information may be missing compared to the original 4:3 SD recordings, so, technically, the US is getting the better deal, not the UK.
Anyone notice how often when someone says or does something funny, the audience laugh and some of the actors struggle to keep composed? Most notably Shelly Long and Rhea Pearlman?

Diane could be soooo irritating.
So I'm thrilled ITV4 are showing it.

Fondly recall that, and coming home late Friday night/early Saturday morning and putting on an episode recorded that evening.

Definetly
It become more of an emsemble with Rebecca and was no longer the Sam & Diane show "snore"
Johns is guesting as Dianes mother.
Yeah Paul Wilson he's called. Don't know what made me think of that....
Spooky;)
This is the first time I have ever watched Cheers. Not quite sure how I managed to miss them over the years, but this is all new to me.
Carla is my favourite!
He appears in the 2nd or 3rd series. Initially treating Diane I think but then becomes a regular.
Be patient.
