Cannot thank the SCD gang enough for coming to see our show on their day off, it meant so much and was so wonderful to see them all. Xx
Glad they all enjoyed seeing Midnight Tango It really is a fab show. Press night tomorrow for the official opening so it will be good to read the reviews.
I heard Russell earlier on the Steve Wright show talking with a lot of enthusiasm about Midnight Tango - it's a pity he's missed on starting the show because of his injury but sounded like he was looking forward to making debut in the show

He's making his debut tonight in it, so hopefully it has all gone ok
..If what you want to achieve out of a night in town is to witness phenomenal dancing, beautiful singing and a good old fashioned chuckle, then I would strongly recommend booking a ticket to this mesmerising show.
I'd like to buy one ticket for the matinee next Saturday - anyone know of any deals available anywhere?
The only ticket offers I've seen are for the Monday to Thursday shows - and this year there are no day ticket prices.
There have been some good deals of tickets on eBay (& I've seen a few auctions for 16th Feb tickets but none have started very low yet). Most of them have been through 2 listings so you might be able to offer something for one only.
Hello everyone,a rather belated review of my trip to the Phoenix..Not very good at writing reviews, but will do by best.
I had been to see the show when it was last on tour, and had read that it was the same set and story(,minus Flavia playing the violin),so it was no surprise to see the original set..
I'm sure you have read the pro reviews, discussing lighting etc,so won't go into details.
In a nutshell
The show is amazing...
There is so much to take in,that you cannot absorb it all in one visit...
I did say to myself before it started...I am going to look at the other dancers this time...It didn't happen..I cannot take my eyes off Flavia...Even when she is sitting down,my eyes are drawn to her..She is just ethereal.(every description in a thesaurus covers how she is)
Every movement, from head to foot is perfectly finished...She seems more like a ballet dancer these days..
As for the routines they are so complex I don't know how they remember it all.
The band, the singer, the music, the dancing, were all just perfect..
The only thing I didnt really enjoy was Russell..The kindest way I can put it without going into details is....This is not the part for him..
It was his first night,he looked ill to me,maybe he was just very nervous,?
Having seen it before I have a comparison, and the actor who played Carlos was perfect...His wife is the same actress as before, and she is just so right for the role..When she smiles she lights up the stage...
(Russell isn't in the main programme,he was on an insert,so i'm thinking maybe he wont do the tour..)
So all in all an amazing experience...Loved it so much I'm going again...This time I am going to try to look at the other dancers...Whats the betting I don't!!
Maggie
PS..Loved Vincent too..Sorry to nearly leave him out of this review..How could I,he is a great dancer and such a sweetie&,I will look at him more next time promise!!?!

Thank you for the fab review Glad you enjoyed the show again and I had been wondering how Russell was doing in it. I had seen a few tweets directed to him via the @VFMidnightTango page praising him but I had wondered how he was in comparison to the brilliant Teddy who played the part of Carlos originally so it is good to get the opinion of someone like yourself who has seen the show before. Hopefully like you have suggested it might only have been first night nerves, and he'll settle into the role.
Vincent & Flavia are both amazing in it and I agree about Flavia. She is so mesmerising that it is hard to try and look at the others, and yes she is very balletic when she dances now. She's lovely to watch
ETA : And Russell isn't touring after they finish up at the Phoenix. It is the guy who stood in for him in the opening week that is playing Carlos on tour.

Not sure of any deals that are on but these are some of the ticket suppliers who advertise quite a lot if you want to price compare some.
