Hes not as terrible as Brian Kirkwood, Lorriane Newman, Lucy addario or Susan Bower, But I don't think we have bad taste and don't think he is the most talented in his field. He does have some good storyline ideas, and he has brought a good sense of community, but the show feels like its just trundling along with not much to look forward to. Doesn't help that people aren't that passionate about the characters. They are in a bit of a dark place because Ken, Rita, Roy and a lot of the characters are waifs and strays with little reason to interact with people. Then there is the deadwood. And the family units that we should care about aren't getting good material or the characters are bland.

There could be a clause which is stopping him shaking things up until nearer the 60th though.

That said, all soaps go through rough patches.

Unless there is a major axing it would make sense to have Roy date Rita and Gail date Ken, tighten the community and have interesting family scenes,

Something he doesn't get credit for is, bringing the show back down to normal levels after the disaster crazed 2010-2013, in contrast the only real 'disasters' have been two crashes that happened away from the street, and more importantly, they had a bit more lasting effect on the characters (Nick, Sinead).

Here, Here, H.J. Not only is he not a good producer, he seems to have no control over the abysmal writing and casting.
