The Taking of Pelham 123 - was on TV last night. Nowhere near as good as the original, but then that had the wonderful Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw starring. Not that Denzel and Travolta weren't good, it was the lack of thrill and tension that let it down. 5/10
Watched Alien again last night too - it never gets old in my eyes 7/10
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid - It kept my attention, mainly due to the great cast. I kept thinking, 'That woman looks like Rita Coolidge. Nah, can't be.'. It was her, of course! I like some of her music, but I had no idea she'd appeared in movies. Bob Dylan was better than I expected. Yeah, well worth watching once. Future re-watch? Probably not.
This was ok for a remake, the orginal swedish version (let The Right One In) is a far better film
I see what you mean but I prefer to watch films in english. I enjoyed Wallander and The Girl With Dragon Tattoo much more when they were in remade in english.
Blue jasmine 10/10 flawless, amazing acting, script, styling, direction, and great take on greed, recession and sense of entitlement. Care Blachette is insanely good, Sally Hawk I s too is wonderful.
THE ARRIVAL - 9/10
premiered on horror channel yesterday, vastly underrated scifi thriller, almost played with tongue in cheek sometimes, but nonetheless very creative ..... shown far few times on tv for my liking!
WORLD WAR Z - 8half/10
very interesting take on the "docunovel" of the same name, with EXCELLENT and massive set pieces which throw you into absolute chaos and some very close scrapes  pitt plays it straight and normal and that grounds him perfectly well ..... except for his stupid floppy hair and the do keep the kids from being histrionic in the face of overwhelming events!
lots of people complained about this, but i have no complaints, and look forward to hopefully the other movies in this series!
ROBOT JOX - 7half/10
having never seen this i was intrigued, got it downloaded and gave it a go ..... started off slow, but evolved into a intriguing person story, with enough giant robot snuff action to boot
loads of interesting idea in the story and a strong finale, make this an pretty good scifi oddity ..... i now have to find the sequel now
Life of Pie 6.5/10 - It's a nice story and was entertaining but a bit too religious for my tastes.
Killing Them Softly 2/10 - Loads of inane waffle, unlikeable characters and the violence having a tasteless but realistic tone. So I really didn't enjoy it and I would recommend to steer clear of this one.
The Cabin in the Woods 7/10 - Good fun! The way this unravelled was not what I was expecting.
Europa 7/10 - Excellent for a low budget movie
Whiteout 5/10 - Forgettable.
Das Boot 7.5/10 - Really excellent film about German soldiers in WWII. In German with English subtitles.
The Straight Story, about the old fella who travels hundreds of miles across American mid-West on an old lawnmower/tractor to see his brother. Nice movie.
We both thought it was a bit boring. She wanted more female characters. I wanted more songs
Grease 2 - 8/10
It is hilarious. They haven't tried very hard with it at all and it makes its really funny. My niece enjoyed the songs but got awkward when she asked what 'Reproduction' meant!

I knew you'd appreciate that fine movie Bob.
Cracking film with Denzel Washington on top form as an alcoholic pilot who save a passenger plane from disaster and Kelly Reilly (sigh!) as the very sexy former addict he meets in the aftermath of that accident.

Hobo with a Shotgun. Was OTT in every respect (well, apart from nudity really). Watchable though. The girl is nice looking.
Have to agree, the original was superb but thanks to the outstanding Chloe Moretz I thought the re-make was more than just watchable.

An extra point for Russell Crowe's Ollie Reed impression.
Beautifully acted but a bit sentimental and obvious how it is going to end up...
Excellent 8/10
