Does anyone remember this Channel 4 drama

I am trying to remember a one off drama on C4 from the 80's although it may be later. I think it was part of a series called "First Love" which David Puttnam produced (including P'tang, Yang, Kipperbang) but it doesn't seem to be listed on IMDB.
The story was set in 18th/19th?? century and involved a young boy who goes to a party with his father where a beautiful young women is being fought over by a group of suitors. The women says whovever wins a party game will get a kiss from her and the young boy ends up winning it and falls in love with her after receiving the kiss. Later on he is stood outside the woman's house and sees that she is with a man and he is so enraged that he fantasizes about stabbing this rival for his affections, until it is revealed that this other man is his father!
I remember it being a really touching story and the actress playing the woman was stunning, but does it ring any bells with anyone?
