Has anyone noticed that Freesat's own Community forum has disappeared? Am never impressed when a company prevents its customers from open discussion. It use to be at http://community.freesat.co.uk

Yeah Freesat Community closed on the 29th July

    FREESAT COMMUNITY IS CLOSING

After a thorough review of how we support Freesat customers in all channels, we have taken the decision to close the Freesat Community from 29 July. We aim to provide a better overall support service via an expanded help section on Freesat.co.uk, which will be launching at the end of July. We feel that with the resources available we’ll be able to keep Freesat customers better informed and respond to queries in a more effective manner by directing them all through online help and to our social media channels. As current community members have commented, it is easier to have information in fewer areas that are always up to date than several areas that are updated sporadically.

Please take this opportunity to save a copy of any posts you would like to keep, as these won’t be available after the end of the month.

We would like to thank all members for their continued support of Freesat and the feedback provided over the last few years.

    The Freesat team

Tbh, it was never the most popular or active of forums and it always gave the impression of being a forlorn and desolate place so much so that was probably haunted!

That's more likely to be the reason that it was axed.

They had a habit of deleting critical posts so not really much of a loss.

I don't think I ever saw a sensible, useful reply from the staff on that forum. The users/posters yes, the staff...hopeless. No great loss other than it gives Freesat an opportunity to continue to ignore user input, with no public kickback.

The last time I looked it the design was appropriate for a restless 5 year old with a box of markers.

This is the Freesat community on DS! The official Freesat site is just a marketing tool with PR crafted answers to issues.

To be fair, when it opened around Nov 2012 (shortly after launch of the 1000S) it was staffed by the team that had developed the box, and they were genuinely looking for feedback. However, when what emerged was overwhelmingly negative feedback it was rapidly changed to the format it took latterly, before closing. That largely consisted of a few staff people saying... well our office machine is OK, when the whole internet was telling them of a problem.
