    Thanks to the strip club in GTA V, I've just discovered this song for the first time;

    Can't believe I've never heard this 80's classic before now:o
    It sounds rather timeless. I see Madonna even sampled the synth hook for her song "Jump":)

    It was featured in the Olympic closing ceremony... but you must've missed that too.

    and a few german/austrian hits:
    Peter Schilling - Major Tom (US #14, UK #42)
    Falco - Der Kommissar (US #5, UK #47)
    Nena - 99 Luftballons (US #2. German version didn't chart in the UK).

    Nena was number one in the UK with the English version 99 Red Balloons though, considering it's the same tune and ideas and only the English version was promoted in the UK by Nena it's misleading to say it didn't chart.

    My fave Pet Shop Boys single is Rent:

    They made so many great songs in the 80's and early 90's. I must admit I haven't heard much of their more recent stuff. Another old fave of mine, of theirs is Left To My Own Devices:

    although I do prefer the full length version than the shortened single remix version.

    Original full length version:

    I was quite surprised when OH bought a German generic 'electropop' hits compilation the other day and WEG was on it - but, apart from the obviously recognisable music, the arrangement was somewhat different and bewilderingly, it also had some completely different lyric passages. I don't think it was a 12" mix, just a very different version.

    Possibly the version from Disco? Get it folks, it's a great album. Six remixes from the early years and something a little bit different from the norm.
