Hello All,
I have recently aquired a new company car with a new fangled digital radio!
So this has led me to try a few new stations. I have enjoyed Absolute but also come across this oddity called The Arrow Rock. Great playlist with tunes from every part of the genre. For the last few weeks it has been 'bloody hell have not heard that for years!'
But one thing puzzles me. I have not heard one single advert. And I am sure whoever runs it is not just catering for me to get a rock fix now and again. So how does it stay on air with no income?

The station is fully automated and has been for almost 2 years (or possibly more)
The Arrow did at one time have presenters/ news etc...but I hate to be the one to give you the sad news that The Arrow is living on borrowed time and will eventually be fizzled out.
A lot of the UK has recently lost this service with only certain parts of the UK now being able to hear it. I agree...the 'Arrow' was a great station at one point, but it is simply just a shadow of it's former self as of late unfortunately.

Global had a business plan which was based round 8 networks: Classic, Hit's (Capital, Red Dragon etc), Heart, Galaxy, Choice, XFM and LBC. So sold Planet rock and kept Arrow and the Chill running in the background, but started removing them from some muxes.
There are talks with Chill and hopefully will survive in some form.
Now Planetrock has had it's honeymoon period (Virgin also seemed to had plans for "Virgin classic rock" in case Planet rock failed) and Planetrock is now surviving well under new management, it could be Global might have future plans for the Arrow rock franchise as it could have closed the Arrow on the internet and MXR, rather than doing a swap with XFM onto local muxes!
It could be that GMG also have plans for Rock radio to become national!

Arrow radio UK seems to have been started by Chrysalis radio to fill spare capacity on the MXR DAB muxes and has never had the investment it really needs!
