In primary school we learnt about Romans and The Famine. For GCSE I studied medicine through time, Germany 1918-1945 and 13th century castles in Ireland. I remember doing Unionism and Nationalism in Ireland and you can't really study that without the Empire coming into it.
I do remember one unconventional History class (supply teacher for a few days) where he started banging on about how great the Empire was and how it had saved the world and never done any bad. I put forward the question how come my teacher in Pakistan said the complete opposite. I was made to leave the class
