So Birmingham basically a crime free for all zone tonight. seriously sounds worrying.

If the police have been threatened what is the point of recalling them? They will have to go back on the streets at some point. Seems a bit dodgy
If this is true then it's time to crack down hard on these religious nut jobs and cowards, the murder of Lee Rigby should have woken this nations leaders into action to protect the safety and security of the majority of citizens who are law abiding.
If a few scummy asshole religious nut jobs have their feelings hurt or rights trampled on in order to protect the rights of the majority then so be it.

Pretty sure thats how most dictatorships start, once you start taking away peoples freedoms no matter who they are, it is a slippery slope. Oneday you are arresting people for possibly being a terrorist because of a website they have looked at the next they are carting away innocent people who they don't like the look of into prisons with no charge, then when the prisons are full where do we send them? Make shift camps with guards everywhere? for the protection of everyone else that they haven't made up a charge for yet?
We may not like it but you just cant go around taking away a persons rights, the only option that we have in a free country is to protect those that need protecting by scaling up our efforts but we must remain in the law and keep a persons rights by any costs. If they are proven to be guilty of seriously wanting to harm others then by all means take away their freedoms, reduce their rights and liberties but not until then.
Keep a closer eye on the 'nutjobs' by all means, and be ready to act, but we cannot act until there is clear proof.

“We have taken the opportunity to remind all employees of the need to be vigilant. Our priority remains serving our communities and protecting them from harm. Officers remain on patrol and our staff continue to respond to calls for service as usual.”

Of course this is only my opinion and everyone is welcome to their own, but personally, I don't think there should be any change like a sliding scale depending on the situation, we should always maintain our current stance that we can only impose a tightening of the law on a person/s if we can be be sure within a reasonable doubt of their guilt otherwise we start to lose who we are as people, as a nation then we truly do become that constantly mentioned police state/1984 copy, where we are fed lies as truth to keep us in line, watched every second of the day even in our homes and 1 misstep over leads to a gitmo style prison..
