Jon Stewart's thoughts on a Trilby.
“Which is a hat that somehow combines the douchiest parts of a fedora and a porkpie.”

I tend to agree with Mr. Stewart.

I think one of the problems is it's too small, thus it looks like a comedy fancy dress hat.

Sure is, but then it must be hard to get a hat big enough to fit HIS head ;)

or the frontwards baseball cap.....both of which, as soon as placed on a head, tend to lower the perceived IQ of the wearer.:(

I don't like James, but I am not going to criticise his headgear as it's so nice to see a proper hat for a change, and I hope he's got a few other titfers in his suitcase. I am hoping for full Carmen Miranda, but a Japanese rear admiral's hat will do nicely :)

it's also extremely knobbish, and you get extra knobbish points if you are middle-aged

Sunglasses indoors & in the dark get my vote for knobbishness ;-)

Is it? It used to be compulsory in some churches.

Some of us are photophobic and consider people who make assumptions about sunglasses to be knobs. :p

True. Whenever I see someone wearing a hat indoors for "style" on a chatshow/realityshow/when singing ... I automatically think "twonk" (be they male or female). It's just so try hard.

I'm sure this must have been said already, but he looks so like a mandrill baboon - even more so when he's wearing the hat for some reason.

I know Fairly Wings. We always seem to get our ramblings on here out of all proportion. I have disliked James for 8 years on SCD. I find him to be full of his own self importance, conceited and vey annoying.

But the level of criticism is getting too much. I think he is trying really hard to be a wise and honourable person. Too hard in fact, he makes his point, then makes it again, and again until just want him to STFU. But over all I don't believe he is badly intentioned, quite the opposite, its just his delivery is crass.

The thing is that when the comments on here get so out of proportion and unreasonable it make me start to back the housemate in question. This is what happened in he case of Helen.

    I like the hat.
