I love the scumbag's blissfull belief that having a licence, insurance and MOT, and being sober is of trivial importance and only applies to other road users and that they should be excused all that inconvenient expense and troublesome bother.

Everyone makes mistakes. The show is still enjoyable.

The one in the white car?
I cross that road every day to get to the newsagents! Don't know the woman but have seen the car (the number plate is a weird one).

There is a lot of theft from charity clothes collections and fake charity collectors so seems reasonable to arrest them.

The chap taking scrap metal was lucky to get off without being charged - isn't a licence needed to collect scrap? Presumably it will all be recorded on the PNC in case he is caught again.

Someone going around bits of metal lying around at the roadside is quite possibly going to involved in collecting other scrap metal. It was worth a look in the back of the van, it could easily have been full of obviously stolen items like manhole covers, roadsigns etc. This type of programme often stress how a quite minor item like that can lead to a whole series of other offences.

It quite possible that a marker will be put against that van's and driver's records that they could be involved in metal theft. If the van was picked up on ANPR near somewhere there had been metal theft then they might be checked out again.

I think after I watched Traffic Cops with that woman who was banned for 3 years from driving and got a 12 month suspended sentence was a bit soft. If I was judge she should of lost lost her licence for at least 10 years and jailed for 6 months.

I think now is the time to have a zero tolerance on Drink and Driving.

It can be done and if anyone goes on about medication, sorry, but you shouldn't be driving a car while taking medication. I take medication that causes drowsiness and it states that I shouldn't drive a car.

Not sure how stopping someone stealing clothes destined for charity is a waste of time, they will be selling them on for a profit not giving them to the cause they were supposed to go to and deserve to be arrested.

The cat scratcher I agree was a waste of time.

I rather risk a neck injury than lose my 1964 E-Type Jag.
Blame the people who make compensation claims against emergency services who are only trying to help. If ever an emergency service removed a person from a vehicle after a crash, and did so without taking precautions not to move the neck/spine, and that person became injured, the media would have a field day too.

Well it was a waste of time as they were let off, shouldnt it be clarified beforehand that it was Illegal?

I think these programmes are a few years old arent they?

They should tell viewers at the start what year it is, as if you miss the date in the credits at the end the sentences, fines etc sound really stupid.

They are current series (number plates I think were 2011) and living in Beds/Herts the co-operation between forces is a recent thing...why they don't just merge I do not know.

Because it would only need one Chief Constable? Most police decisions are taken by ACPO which is effectively the senior officers' trade union.

Why? They spoke to the guy and asked him to put it back, in doing so checked what else was in his van, got his details and it let him know that they were watching him.
It was obvious to anyone that that wasn't the only thing he had taken or was planning to take that didn't belong to him.

The Fines are stupid, hardly any deterrent at all £200 for no insurance when most people pay 5 times that for insurance.

The worse is the repeat offenders, They are banned but still drive.
Sadly prisons are full...can we just shoot them?

I have wondered about long suspended sentences so they would know if they committed another offence that they would be going to prison for many years but they are probably too thick for it to be effective.

There is always the American Three Strikes law.

Or Soylent Green ?
