Why are we GBR in Sochi and not Team GB?

  We have always been GBR. Team GB is an American colloquialism and as far as I know they are still referred to as Team GB. Note Chemmy Allcott yesterday.

  Team GB was a good marketing expression which enabled the British Olympic Association to flog a lot of merchandise at London 2012.

  I'm fine with GBR, can't see a problem. Just shout "Come On Britain"!!
  Technically it should be the UK (GB + NI) but isn't, I assume, because citizens of NI have the choice of representing GB or the Republic??
