No, it's definitely a higher position than that. I worked in a clothing shop when I was at uni. The visual merchandisers were well paid. They carefully select where all the stock goes and how the shop is set up.
I'm sure that's true, but in the tradition of BB contestants' embellishments, a shelf stacker would probably say 'visual merchandiser' in the same way Winston probably sells stuff on ebay, Toya might have an obscure youtube channel and Steven may have visited websites based in 119 countries.
I'm not convinced Christopher is even a journalist, I can't find any evidence.
He's a "trainee broadcast journalist" according to his mum:
Having just completed his Masters Degree, he is hoping his profile on the Channel 5 show will serve as a launch pad for his broadcasting career.
“He did some work experience with the Impartial Reporter while he was at Portora,” said Marie, “He enjoyed his experience, certainly by all means. But it is broadcast journalism that he is most interested in.
“He is hoping Big Brother can be a launching pad for him. And I hope everyone in Fermanagh will get behind him. I think people in this area look after their own, and I hope this will be the case for Christopher.”

When he was in Shipwrecked 5 years ago his job was "Subway Sandwich Maker", so he's moved on since then.
Jale "currently works as a customer adviser and has been there for a year doing lots of project work."
She also said "I've put a lot on the line coming in here" - I'm guessing she might well have left her job to go into BB. You don't get a three month holiday after a year of working a regular job like that.
