ITV Saturday Night

X factor has been a ratings disaster...
I only wish now that ITV will turn their back on Cowell and get
back to some Sat night programmes that will be different and far more entertaining.

Im thinking of one offs... like when Denise Van Outen hosted the stars of
Corrie and Emmerdale singing the musical Grease........
Celeb shows where Carol Vorders got dressed up to do an immitation of Cher...
There was a fab one off show of the Bee Gees performing to a celeb audience with
Patsy Palmer.
Why not a new comedy sit com to go out on Saturday night.....
There's all kinds of possibilities... just lets give these boring Simon Cowell shows the elbow
and get back to real entertaining programmes for Saturday night viewing.

    Tell me about it!

Forget X Factor, they make The Marriage Ref sound appealing.

That sounds worse than the Cowell shite that appears every Saturday....

I would like to see ITV get rid of Cowell and his rubbish once, but what could replace it I just don't know. Knowing ITV we would end up with more Emmerdale or Corrie in the time slot instead.

I wouldn't mind see some more of An Audience With as most of them with the likes of Ken Dood, Bob Monkhouse even Billy Connolly were good.

ITV 1 & 2 are pretty much unwatchable for many people - its all regurgitated undemanding celebrity driven dross. Awful daytime TV, reality shows, musical reality shows, scripted reality shows, soaps, late night gambling,

There is nothing that makes you think or teaches you anything.

ITV seem to have a policy of not showing anything that requires you to have a brain to watch, I'm not even talking about having a massive supersized brain, just an average, don't care about D list celebs sized one. It really is a tragic, lowest common denominator, insult of a channel !!!

I TV must have one awesome back catalogue of fab variety shows, comedy shows..... all kinds of delights....
they could slot on of those say from 8 pm to 9 pm

its probably only the fears of the unions that are stopping them .

It depends what sort of contract the people in the shows signed vis a vis repeat fees

What fears of the unions do you mean?

More likely that the kind of shows it has in it's back catalogue are very of the moment and so date pretty quickly. I saw Bruce's Play Your Cards Right recently and despite being a massive ratings winner in it's day, it just looks ridiculous now.

The weekends are an ITV free zone. There is nothing on the channel worth watching. ITV used to be my favourite channel and used to be on all the time but that is not the case now.

With the right show Carol Vorders could rule Sat night

They should just bring back Gladiators and Blind Date, when Saturday nights had an identity!

Something in the line of the old Bobby Davro show........ lots of comedy sketches, guests too.... music and comedy .. a tried and tested format.

Brian Connoly would be a great host.

I'm not sure it does anymore. I 'hate' all these reality shows/skating/singing makes an ass of yourself, even Family Fortunes is full of celebs now... not seen a normal one in ages:mad:

Why do these TV Companies think we want celebs on our TV everyday

Saturday Night Takeaway is coming back in 2013:

On Official Ant & Dec it says:
In June of 2002 the lads returned to Saturday night TV when they launched a brand new prime time ITV1 show – Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, where viewers were asked not to just watch the advert breaks but also win them! The series went from strength to strength, running for nine series and picking up every award going, and is set to return in 2013.

I used to love The Brian Conley show. I'd like to see shows such as You Bet back as well
