I think a grandstand feel is what they are going for on Saturday afternoon. Linking between the various sports in a big studio with lots going on.

Really looking forward to the premier league Saturdays now.

I notice they were really making a big deal of how the first PL game was on BT sport.

It will be interesting to see how many sign ups they get between now and the 17th. I bet loads of people will wait until then and then try and sign up on the day or the day before.. I think they will be disappointed though because sky cards can't be activated by BT that quickly can they?

The studio looks excellent. Presentation excellent. Nice to see Jake Humphrey back. Not too keen on the DOG and the scorebar.

Would be interesting if they go for a Grandstand style-presentation. Would be unique to Sky's approach, to say the least - more cohesive. But then Sky has 6 sports channels, and BT only 2 so that makes cohesion a lot easier.

Sadly the people paying for it will be the ones who probably have no interest in it through their land line and broadband subscriptions, just like Sky Sports is probably propped up by the 50% or so of customers who don't subscribe to Sky Sports..

Could be particularly galling for anyone in the position where they had to pass on a landline for a property because they couldn't afford BT's £130 standard connection fee.

What does everyone think about the background noise in the studio coming from other presentation areas?

The big plus of the whole set up is that it creates a feeling of vibrancy and the linking between programmes etc is powerful cross-promotion to watch whatever is coming up next or is on the other BTS channel.

But is the background noise off-putting?

I've just been watching the 9.55pm to 10.05pm segment on BTS2 - ie the end of the rugby and start of the tennis and there is an awful lot of background noise.

The rugby was running late and the studio was full which I am not sure will always happen. I think in future it will be running on time so background noise wont be a problem.

Sky put the DOG at the bottom of the screen in 2007. It lasted about 3/4 weeks before they moved it

I just finished watching the recordings I made at 6 as I was still at work and have to echo the view of most on here that I was extremely pleased with BT and their presentation line up's.

The studio set up was fantastic and really cant wait for their indoor football pitch to be used.

As I think I mentioned before I thought Jake Humphrey was very good and clearly led the way with authority tonight, you could clearly see he had done all his homework for tonight.

I thought Steve Macnanaman was very good infact I thought he came across a lot better than Owen, maybe he was still in joy land after his big horse race win today.

Give time to Owen Hargreaves and im sure he will get better, seemed miles away at half time when David James put a question out to him, least there wasn't any yelling during commentary.

Great to hear Ian Darke back, he certainly seemed well up for it tonight and no doubt the rest of the season, great move by BT to get him and will clearly be of great benefit to help any new commers in the commentary box.

Have to say as well not to sure about Ray Stubbs, seemed a little slow and hesitant with question asking tonight but again have to give him time considering over the past 3 years or so he has been sat behind a desk in the studio.

Finally the DOG in the bottom of the screen didn't really bother me perhaps unlike most on here but is that because we are all used to having it in the top right hand side?

Barney Francis has been quoted as saying he like a challenge....well maybe this time he has well and truly found one....and he knows it.

So as a Freeview user, there's the Channel 57 still on at the moment (some mickey mouse Guyana v Trinidad one day cricket match) - if the picture quality is anything to go by, I can see why BT Sports were pushing the HD option, as the SD is poor - makes standard ITV CL quality look reasonable!

Sounds like lots of positive comments (though that's to be expected when you've got the novelty element and something for nothing). Wasn't able to see the earlier stuff as I was out (was this earth-shattering studio on Freeview too, or just on BT/Sky?). It's hard to grasp what major differences there are to SS without seeing it, so will wait (i'm sure it'll be covered on the news tomorrow).

I read someone earlier mentioning all of these different sports on BTS - apart from the PL and rugby union, what else - is it the stuff that was previously on ESPN?

As far as Jake Humphrey - does his new position mean he's no longer involved with the BBC (eg. Formula 1) - or does he work across the board (like Balding does).

Ian Darke should be a big asset to BTS, though I could imagine the two Owens (Michael and Hargreaves) could suck the life out of a show - David James however is a very thoughtful and intelligent speaker, and wouldn't be surprised to see him being their top man. I think Sky still have the best in Gary Neville, but this may give them a kick up the backside to keep raising standards.

Just at 0045 - it's still on, but just constant ads for BT Sport (and still pushing Free HD for a year in one), although now some history of BT in sport is on...

No he will not be presenting any more formula one for sure and I think he is exclusive to BT however BT seem to be getting on very well with BBC and after tonight maybe channel 4 so anything could be possible.

Have BTS got some horse racing? I just wondered why Clare Balding is there, is she covering a particular sport?

Has anyone who has Sky and dos'nt subscribe to BT Sport, has it now become encripted for you to view yet.

No horse racing, she has her own weekly chat show covering various sporting topics and personalities.

BT not 'hiding' that their Ladies Tennis coverage commentary was offtube. Anne Keothavong was in the studio and went into the commentary box. Lynsey Hipgrave acknowledging Anne had just 'came out from the commentary box'

Usually is for tennis! The cost for paying for a team of commentators travelling across the world would cost too much!

Although I think Eurosport and Sky do attend the major events.

As do Talksport with Jack Bannister at the cricket when it's abroad (he's sat watching it on Sky), and whenever they don't have the proper rights to cover the major football tournaments - just a couple of blokes sat watching the telly like the rest of us :D

Hope they sign up Simon Reid when Eurosport lose the rights next year as he is very good.

The Sound for BT was quieter than Eurosport and each had the horrible 4/3 safe graphics from the host broadcaster.

Not sure why BT felt the need to rush off before the on court interview.

As for the bottom corner dog I hate it. It's currently covering the host graphics on the CPL coverage.

As for the person from the previous thread who asked if there is an overrun, does the EPG update?, the answer was no.

That's disapointing about the overrun of programes. That will mean I will have to manualy record programes on BT Sport and add plenty of time onto the end of the live broadcast.

Its not that hard to do though is it?
Why when you have to do something yourself do people moan about it like its going to end the world?!

I see the logo is now covering the cricket graphics.. Piss poor from what you would expect to be a well prepared broadcaster.
Hope it changes as aside from that, been impressed and definitely looks like a strong quality challenge to Sky

It will all settle down and any creases will be ironed out. They have currently been broadcasting for 9 hours, as opposed to sky sport's 23 years.

And they aren't doing bad at all. Who would have thought that the only complaints at this stage would be dog placement and EPG overruns not updating.
