Now TV Box AV Out Question

I'm considering buying a Now TV box for my Dad for the Iplayer, however he has an old TV without HDMI. I have tried my box using the correct 3.5mm 4 pole AV cable to the RCA inputs on my TV, but as I understand it the AV out is NTSC, and I only get L&R audio with no video.

Anyone any ideas as to how I can connect it to an old TV?

If the TV can't accept NTSC then perhaps a HDMI to SCART converter might be the only option. Though they don't tend to be cheap. For example..

This is just a random example, no idea how good, bad or indifferent it is.

Bear in mind that if your dad's TV does handle NTSC, Sky will send out a free 3.5mm to composite RCA cable if you do go for the box. You just need to ask.

When a now TV box is a tenner?

Technology and him don't mix, a modern TV would do his head in, he still struggles with his VCR! hence the Now box for I Player.

But you then need extra boxes to interface it with his telly. More expense, more points of failure introduced. One more box for him to unplug and then wonder why nothing is happening.

With a Smart TV it's all integrated into the set and just one remote to do everything instead of the multiplicity of remotes you need with extra boxes all over the place.

His TV would have to be pretty old (pre 90s) not to accept NTSC.
