I hope they managed to persuade the guitarist on the left to call the Samaritans after this performance.

Simon Bates looks like he's got bottom teeth and none at the top.

What's he got stuffed down his trousers.?:o

No show gets cancelled, they are merely postponed due to the Sky at Night. You will definitely see the Si Bates edition. There are not enough episodes of TOTP to cover the year thanks to Yew Tree and strikes therefore BBC 4 throw a few Sky at Nights and Proms into the mix so that we can see each TOTP at roughly the same week it was originally broadcast.
That's great because I didn't want to miss Dave Edmunds appearance.

Even Captain Becky I find interestingly from a historical point of view because it's so quirky and different and not you'll never hear it again anywhere else I suspect. Not that I want to hear it to often.

Like a cross between skiffle & Euro-electro funk.

This single was such a disappointment at the time. All the years Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe had both been in Rockpile but had ot release separate singles and albums for contractual reasons. Finally they get that sorted and what do they do? Release a single that is far duller than either of them had done individually.

Why does the clown remind me of Kenny Everett's mime artist.

No - Billy Bremner - he fancied becoming a rock star after his career at Leeds dropped off ;-)

Did any other songs from Friends of Mr Cairo become a single and a hit?
