I was hugely disappointed that Waltz with Bashir didn't win best foreign film. I think it was one of the best films of last year in any category. My second choice The Class didn't win either:(
Otherwise I'm happy with most of the wins though I don't think Slumdog is a worthy best film winner. I also wish Davd Fincher had won best director.
Three best actor/actress winners where the character played was gay (off the top of my head).
yeah, but the point being made wasn't about the acting gong's but about the movie as a whole was recognised, and it widely accepted that Brokeback was robbed of Best Picture a few years back by the religious right zealiots in hollywood.
Tony recently told Fox News's Bill McCuddy that he hadn't yet seen "Brokeback Mountain" and had no intention of doing so. He claims that other Academy members feel similarly.
"This picture is not as important as we make it. It's nothing unique. The only thing unique about it is they put it on the screen. And they make 'em [gay] cowboys."
So the question is how could he and others fairly vote for Best Picture having refused to watch a film nominated that they clearly had pre-conceptions and prejudices about?
It was a shame Frost/Nixon didn't win anything at all.
Perhaps they'll have more luck with the sequel - Frost/Grossman.
Lol...:D
yeah, I think that quite often you have one film that sweeps the board when really they should be spread around a bit more. mind you, at least this year the acting honours were not connected to the Best Film, which makes a bit of a change.
I'd have liked to see Frost/Nixon get the adapted screenplay award.
I didnt think Slumdog was worthy of all those Oscars
IMO best picture was BB
As for best actor, I think politics had a lot to do with that
Benjamin Button could have been a great film if it wasn't trying so hard to be a box office hit as well as a "serious" film, imo. I think the overall result was average, and was my least favourite of the nominees.

Milk was an excellent film, IMO...just to balance it out...;)
