Or maybe most people are too embarrassed to list the book?
When the story first broke I read that only one copy was located in a second hand book store somewhere and that someone drove some distance to collect it - though i've read so much recently that I might be wrong on the last detail. People may be listing them after reading the same article and realising they were of value to certain people.
The scandal at the BBC has deepened as it emerged that presenters who have had complaints raised against them have been allowed to go on working without facing any formal investigation.
Hart-Davis, 69, a second cousin of David Cameron and distantly related to the Queen, said that he had no knowledge of employees being warned to keep their distance from him.
I found this excerpt below from an article in the Telegraph, but when I clicked on the link, it had already been removed.
Jimmy Savile: Secret of BBC's first sex scandal
Telegraph.co.uk - 17 minutes ago
Top disc jockeys and executives at the BBC were caught up in a sex scandal more than 40 years ago.
there was a thread on gd a while back about comments Peter Tatchell had made in a book where it said sexual relations between an adult and a child could be positive.....
Mark Williams-Thomas @mwilliamsthomas
I am working very closely with Op Yewtree & am very impressed with their determined to thoroughly investigate criminal offences.
Well, apparently it disbanded in 1984. It's mentioned in an article in the Telegraph.
There was a similar organisation in Holland campaigning for the legalisation of child pornography just a few years ago!
Quote:
More than 100 children remain on Ireland's missing persons list, it has been revealed. But one of the country's most senior Garda officers said there was no way to compare the figures with overseas because of "protocols" used to record them here. John O'Mahoney, Garda assistant commissioner, said 114 children who were reported missing over the past five years have still not been found.
Of these, 106 vanished while under State care.

It would appear that "The State" is far from an ideal parent
There's a fascinating account here of Savile's antics during his time as a professional competitive cyclist, known as The Duke or Oscar Savile, before he became a professional cycling commentator.
It just shows, how, from the start, he had this narcissistic obsession with attention and publicity.
Yep, I speculated before he only did the race to increase his profile, that article confirms it, with all his posturing before and after the event, eventually getting the job as official compere/commentator for the race. It does give the origin of the Oscar and Duke names- 'Oscar' was from his bike, 'Duke' was to do with him turning up in a (fake) Rolls Royce wearing a silk robe before the race.

It would be interesting to see this translated into proper statistics (in percentages), and compared with the number of children there are in care and in the general population..
As far as the BBC goes, if they had listened to the complaints from David Nicolson and other staff members about what they'd witnessed, they could have weeded JS out earlier and stopped his reign of child abuse in its tracks. Instead, their refusal to take action (because of his popularity and ability to bring in millions of viewers) allowed him to carry on abusing for decades.

That is a shocking statistic, especially for a country with such a small population.
And that's just those who have been caught. Its genuinely scary isn't it? I do wonder statistically how the number of individuals seeking positions of power relate to the number of known offenders?

That's exactly what I said earlier. I wonder if there are statistics and whether we can access them or use the freedom of information act?
But then again, statistics only deal with those who actually get caught, which skews things again because those in power are more likely to be able to pull strings.
He'd probably have got a couple of years here. What's wrong with this country?
"What's wrong with this country?"
I think it is becoming pretty obvious.
How did Savile abuse at the BBC for so long? How did the Jersey care home scandal get shut down? How did a known abuser but still a lowly DJ get keys to a mental hospital?
Because there are people higher up the food chain who protected and empowered him.
People ask with incredulity "How do they get away with it"??....Simple, because the "Establishment" from the BBC to parliament to social services is rotten to the core in this country, and likely run by the Pedo gangs themselves.

And from what I've read, things ain't so different elsewhere...
What I mean is, what on earth are we putting up with this **** for? We're a bunch of apathetic telly-heads, and it's a ****ing disgrace. We need to start a campaign - NOW, while it's on everyone's mind, demanding that sentencing is reviewed. Talking about it isn't good enough.

Or just young children of either gender, and in his sick mind he thought that letching over teenage girls would make him appear more acceptable.
There was something here the other night about JS being a member of the Paedophile Information Exchange (not sure if this is going into Icke territory?) in the 70s. Wikipedia claims that
If JS was a member, I wonder what his response was re the age preference?
I'm flabbergasted that this organisation actually existed?!
Not only did it exist but it was even legal at one point. I imagine what happened is that people were taken by surprise by a bunch of men announcing they were attracted to children and formalising their attraction, so that they didn't know how to respond at first. The whole area of paedophilia and sex with children had been a taboo subject up until then so people may have been completely flummoxed and unsure of how to respond.

He would certainly make an interesting case study.

Now this is what I call a proper sentence (quote take from one of those links):
"Republican Mayor Philip Giordano is serving a 37-year sentence in federal prison for sexually abusing 8- and 10-year old girls."
Confirmed here:
