I would actually rather donate money straight to the charity than buy that awful song.

It's a pretty crap cover let's be honest. When are they finally going to put McCartney to bed?

    I'll donate directly.

Just donate a few quid then you won't even have to bin it and you'll stop encouraging self indulgent old pop stars to be seen to doing something for 'charadee'.

I can't believe some of the comments here.

perhaps people should actually read what it's for first.....

I would imagine most people know what its for. You don't have to love the song just because its for charity.

I fully support the Hillsborough fight for justice but I don't particularly like the song they've chosen.

There's plenty of horrible comments about the X Factor single.

Taken from another thread 'Both charity singles. The profits from one go to children with terminal illness, the profits from the other go to lawyers. Tough choice.'

Or buy neither, and donate directly to the charities instead.

The song itself is generally considered a classic. Certainly one of the best harmonica lines.

As for the bullcrap about the profits going to lawyers, without the lawyers, the injustice of Hillsborough will never be overturned. If you were the victim of an injustice, you'd need a good lawyer or your life would be effectively taken away. The families of Hillsborough have had a large part of their lives taken away physically as well as officially and legally. They need money to fight against those who would deny them the chance to repudiate that.

Each to their own mind. Personally I think the care of terminally ill children (like care of veteran soldiers etc.) should be the responsibility of the state and shouldn't need any external charity funding. THAT'S another injustice that only lawyers could help remedy.

I love the song but not this version. It's just a standard charity single with a mix of voices that don't blend well. I'm all for supporting charity but that doesn't mean I'm going to clog my ipod with terrible music to do so.

I'm the other way round. Love the song, bored of the cause, but good luck to them.

Maybe he would rather spend some of his final years doing what he loves instead of sitting in a chair at home in front of the TV because some people are ageist?

I don't think he's very good anymore. His performance at the Olympics was hideous. It may be as a result of his age, but it's not ageism, it's just taste.
