Creepy moment on GOLD this evening

I was watching an old episode of the timeless classic Fawlty Towers on GOLD this evening when I noticed something really creepy, I must have seen that particular episode a thousand times but i never noticed this before.

In the scene in the bar when Basil asks the Major to look after the money he won on the horse so that Sybil won't find it, ther appears to be a figure/person standing dead still outside the bar window, between the window frame. I know it's a set and not a real window but am I imagining that? Has anyone else see it? I can tell you, it made my blood run cold when I saw it, really creepy.

Yeah, it looks like some sort of crossed armed mummy.

Edit: Just had a look at some other vids of Fawlty Towers bar scenes, it's just a statue. :)

Yes you're right, also it kind of looks like it could be a woman with her right breast exposed! The more I look at it the more it creeps me out, I'm surprised no one has mentioned this before. I can't find any info on the web about it.

I'm wondering if John Cleese may have had someone stand there on purpose just for the hell of it, it's the kind of blizzarre Pythonesque thing he would do.

Edit: just seen your edit, oh really are there other scenes with that figure In them?

It looks like a statue to me. A sort of grecian/roman woman.

I agree. Maybe it was a stock backdrop that was largely appropriate but had a few odd details on it.

I'd never noticed that before either, but if you watch the beginning of this episode you can see the statue

I think the Statue theory is right, what a disappointment, I was hoping I had discovered a new mysterious ghost or something lol

I think it might be the infamous 'Ghost of TV Centre'. He's been spotted several times walking the corridors, some say it's the ghost of Kenneth Kendall, or maybe one of the cast of Dad's Army.

As long as it's not the ghost of Jimmy Savile

He caused enough bother "walking the corridors" while he was alive...

I never noticed it before either! It's like the figure in 3 men & a baby.

It looks like an ornate vase to me, but it does remind me of a film (which I can't recall the name of) in which a cardboard cutout standee for a separate film can be seen. I think the standee features a life size cutout of actor prominently, and in the film it looks like a ghostly presence standing watching proceedings.

A clever DS film buff will know what I mean and hopefully share a link.

But I do love stuff like this. Maybe someone will start a tread about spooky occurrences in films and TV? Would enjoy a thread like that.

Could it have been a crew member ?

Edit - I've just looked at the clip, and it's definitely a statue.
How anyone can think it's anything other than a statue, I don't know !

I'm sure in the 'Gourmet Night' episode a member of the crew can be spotted crouching behind a table or something
