Wish Kara and Angela's roles were reversed :( I'm not a huge fan of Ms Griffin.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel rather deflated that Artem has left us and gone to LA again .I have followed him and Kara since 2010 and feel sad that their romance has fizzled out, wonder how she feels, she must feel it when he has gone back to where his old flame is working and on the same show.Just thought I would say because I feel really sad about it .

I think most of us wish Artem was working over here this spring/summer and expect him to be back on strictly next Autumn. Apart from the usual rumours in the crap press, we have no evidence that their relationship has fizzled or is still fizzing or somewhere in between.
Having met Kara, I am very aware that she is an intelligent woman who will be fine with Artem being on the same show as CAI.
Don't waste your sadness on those two, there are plenty more causes In the world that need it.

We do not know if their romance has fizzled out or not and that is really none of our business. However Artem has to earn, 2 years ago there was DTTM and last year SC there is nothing here this year related to Strictly, no work means no visa. As far as being on DWTS, his relationship was a number of years ago, both have moved on. CAI has said they are on good terms plus he's only in the troupe therefore she has no need to comment about him.
There was also no need for you to be nasty when someone doesn't agree with your musings. I see you are a new poster to this thread, this has always been a friendly place, and would like to think it would continue to be.

    Agreed Eselle :D

Clarty is anything but patronising just trying to be polite and gently remind people not to invest too much in the private life of total strangers. Seems to be a sensible piece of advise to me especially if people are making assumptions about a relationship based on no real evidence.

Did not mean to upset you madamno1, justtrying to keep to the positive rules of dS.
Your post did have a benefit, it is lovely to hear from Eselle and Nooney:):)
In the absence of news about Kara, I will offer a little nouvelles de Bretagne, to any one interested.
Nothing riveting, OH up a ladder finishing fiddly painting bits round window in kitchen, I have just finished murdering, cooking and preparing a crab I bought from our little market. Bits of shell flew everywhere and I suspect some is lost in my hair, could be a bit whiffy later tonight.
Have been walking with a good local friend who shares her best mushrooming spots with me. ( a sign of true generosity) Not the best time of year but we might find Morels. Last week she took me tree hugging to an amazing old oak, which was huge and knobbly and looked like a character from the Lord of the rings.

We are excited as we are allowed to vote in the municipal elections tomorrow. This is for our local commune, an area with the population of a large village/small town. We have the youngest mayor in France. He leads a list (about 24 candidates) who are broadly socialist. A big change for us having lived in Tory south Devon for years.
The opposing list has had a cufuffle as their leader had to resign after being photographed hugging Marine le Pen (leader of the Front National), so hopefully are weakened. Enough of the political discourse got to clean up the kitchen, crab shell and paint dust are covering the surfaces.

Thankyou will do when I get back to France tomorrow. On a flying visit to see friends and relatives.
Am onthe night ferry at the moment. Had a lovely mooch about with fellow SW kartemites on Saturday. We had a hilarious half hour in a charity book shop with other customers joining in our rather frenetic discussions on what books I should stock up on. It felt like a flash mob book group.
I had a lovely day with fridge today, who also can't post scanned things.
Thanks for keeping us up to date with Artem. I look forward to DWTS sightings and back to normal service next september.

Hi, Clartem! *waves across the Channel*

It was, indeed, like a flash mob book group! I only wish other customers had joined in and rubbished our choices, but mostly we all agreed on which were 'must read' books. It's the Wrenny effect - whenever we're gossiping about books in a public place, other people spontaneously join in... :)

I do love our Kartemite get-togethers, even when they're not remotely Kartem-related, so I shall always be grateful to Kara and Artem for bringing some lovely people into my life. ♥

I forgot to multi-quote your post about the unequal fight between you and the crab but I do sympathise with all the work you had to do to eat the wretched thing. It's the same for me. I mean, you have to buy the tin, find a tin-opener....

Thanks to Lili for this info: :)

From a blog by Carrie Ann Inaba:

There were a lot of changes to the show. My ex-boyfriend Artem Chigvintsev is now a dancer in the troupe. No one told me, so I was a bit surprised when I walked on set minutes before the show went live and saw him there. But he’s a wonderful dancer and has won the British version of the show and I’m happy to see him sharing his dancing with the American audience again. Some of you may remember him from So You Think You Can Dance, which is where we met when I choreographed that show. He really is fantastic and for those of you wondering, we are on good terms and I hope you will all enjoy his incredible dancing this season.

    Classy lady

The presenter of AfterBuzz (an online 'after show' for DwtS) has tweeted Artem asking him to feature as a guest and he has replied "I'm in".

Oh, Carrie Ann IS a classy lady! Mind you, I can't help feeling that, although they may indeed be on good terms, those terms aren't quite good enough for him to have let her know he'd be joining the show. Something about that just doesn't quite ring true - I mean, it wasn't exactly a secret, was it? We knew!

Why should he let her know? On good terms does not equal chummy. It also might seem marginally unprofessional to contact her outside the show. Also, if he and Kara are still together, I know I wouldn't appreciate my boyfriend contacting an ex for any reason.

As far as it not being a secret, I'm in the US and follow DWTS fairly closely and had no idea he was in the troupe until DWTSGossip's tweet. I don't recall seeing it discussed anywhere but here. Carrie Ann's tweet rings perfectly true to me.

Yes, I realize that but it was too late to make a correction because of the time limit. I figured y'all would understand what I meant, since it's her blog that's at issue.

BIB Ha ha! Very good :D.

Regarding Artem not telling Carrie Ann, I suppose I didn't really find that especially odd, but I am a bit surprised she didn't notice Artem dancing in the televised fanfare of a cast announcement a couple of weeks before walking on set :p. (Probably just taking a bit of licence. Or on her holidays. Or something ;-))

You have to remember that Good Morning America, which aired the cast announcement, goes live at 6 a.m New York time, which is 3 a.m. Los Angeles time. It doesn't air on the West Coast for three more hours, by which time the news media already reported the new cast and videos were already up.

Whenever Carrie Ann woke up, she could check the new cast without waiting for GMA to air here. I watched it live at 3 a.m. Los Angeles time on the East Coast feed but barely saw Artem. Thus, I'm not a bit surprised she didn't realize he was in the troupe, whether she watched the delayed transmission of GMA or not. I suspect she didn't bother watching GMA but just read the news reports. It's a pain to try to watch GMA as they keep promising DWTS is "coming up" but then they string viewers along for an hour or hour and a half, sometimes even closer to two hours before they finally air what viewers are waiting to see. They do that to keep viewers tuned in the entire two hours to manipulate the ratings. I give props to anyone who doesn't bother with it.

Dancefan - I understand the timings involved. I was trying to make a lighthearted point about the cast being known 2 weeks before 'walking on set'. Given the number of changes to the show this time, I'm mildly surprised to note she didn't pay attention to who was in the cast/troupe, whether she watched live or read about it later. It's not really important ;-)

Of course I understand you meant it in a lighthearted way. But you know what, they never announced the troupe that I'm aware of. The only place I saw Artem's name was in a tweet by DWTSGossip. Carrie Ann follows 1,306 twitter accounts; she can't be expected to read every tweet from every DWTS-related twitter. I follow a tiny fraction of that and make no effort to try to keep up. I totally believe she didn't know.

After Carrie Ann wrote about Artem in her blog, some sites are now writing articles about it. Unfortunately, the troupe gets very little press.

Here is the sort of ABC announcement Carrie Ann may have seen. It goes into great detail about the cast and the new host, but not a word about Artem or the other troupe members. This particular one has been amended with a video showing the Season 18 opening number, which would been after Carrie Ann already saw him there.

I will consider myself well and truly reprimanded. :(

Although you've slapped my wrist, I'm not convinced. She's a judge on the show and the dance world is a very small one, where they all know each other to a greater or lesser extent. I'm trying - and failing - to imagine a situation where the judges on the UK version of the show wouldn't be aware of who was going to be taking part in the show, particularly if there had been a prior relationship.

Even if Artem hadn't told her (and I can see reasons why he wouldn't have been in touch), somebody would have warned her in advance of her strolling on to the set, surely?

There was also speculation that he might have been selected as a pro partner, in which case I'm sure the producers would have taken into account their prior relationship in case there were accusations of a conflict of interest. I personally think their affair was long enough in the past for it not to affect the present, but it would have been a factor. So for her not to know that he might be in the picture does not make sense to me.

Oh, and this is an opinion, to which I consider myself entitled, just as you are entitled to think something different. This is - or always has been - a pleasant, positive thread, and I hope we can keep it that way.

I didn't read the posters comment as a 'reprimand' or a 'slap on the wrist' peeve, merely as a different take on it. I think the point being made is that we are all just cogs in a wheel. The people in control could not care less who knows what when and I imagine, feel under no obligation to inform anybody of their decisions. All they care about is ratings, which have been falling for some time. That is what drives them.
In the past, Maks has been a judge on the panel despite a previous engagement to Karina Smirnoff and Julianne Hough has judged her brother Derek.
(Apparently it was very last minute that Artem and Sasha found out they were to be included in the troupe, at which time Carrie Ann was on holiday in Italy)
What I did find interesting, was Maks announcing prior to the show that he had been offered a place on the judges panel but had opted to come back as a pro instead. No mention of whether it was as a replacement or a addition. Carrie Ann didn't mention that in her blog!

Wow impressive detail, that's a lot of research.
Peeve it is lovely to see you posting and I agree with you. However I think you should surrender before this thread turns into DWTS general discussion. Lots of kisses blowing your way.

Isn't it for Kara and Artem? People have been posting bits and pieces on Artems connection with DWTS as thats his place of work til end of May. I think most people enjoy Clartems stories too, it doesn't hurt does it?

Point taken and accepted. It is great to see the Artem snippets which I am too incompetent to provide. We are grateful to those who are on the DWTS thread for those.
Our youngest in France Mayor was re-elected last night :) with a large majority, so our commune showed sense (in our opinion). Though think the negative Hollande effect was felt in other parts of France:(. Not because of his philandering either.
