Wellies
This might be moved into the fashion section, but noone posts in there.
I need some wellies, but I must have the largest calves on the planet as I can never get any to fit me. I need them to be quite high due to the mud I have to wade through on a daily basis.
I have bought cheap boots in the past (when I can find any to fit) in Tesco, Peacocks etc .... but they don't last any time at all. I bought a pair at the end of winter last year. They have been sat in my wardrobe until the ropey weather arrived, and within 2 months they have split up the side.
I once bought a pair of Hunter wellies that cost about £70 as they were advertised as wide legged. Well, I couldn't get the blummin things up. I ended up having to send them back (I bought them online) and had to pay for return delivery costing about £10 due to the weight of them.
Every time I go in a garden centre I try on wellies, and none fit.
Does anyone have any suggestions ? My husband is trying to encourage me to spend some serious money on them as he is sick to death of me moaning about getting wet feet. He is looking at leather wellies costing upwards of £150 !! I really can't afford those. Plus - who knows if they will fit
Any suggestions ?

Not a huge selection, though. There are other wellies on the site that aren't quite so wide.
I have gone back to Hunters, wearing them with thick socks in the winter. They do wear out at the soles but they never leak.
I had a look at them, but they are quite low. I really need higher wellies to cope with the muck I go through daily.
That is a good site and very interesting. My hubby measured my calf last night while I stood up and he said it was 40cm. Looking at that site, even some of the standard ones would fit.
I was looking at these last night, but the amount of people who commented on the seam problems. It seems they aren't built to last, but cost about £80-£90.
Not cheap, but brilliant

I ended up buying these http://www.gumleaf.com/products/viking-wide-calf-gusset-wellie/
They were very comfy and fitted my elephant legs. I felt sick at the price, but fingers crossed they last a little longer than the ones I normally buy costing about £15.
edit - I know I can google but I already did that and ended up with these that aren't waterproof so recommendations would be good.
To Kim ... Try genuine Muck Boots. We all have them in this house and they've lasted years. They are very comfy, ever so warm (unlike Hunters) and very well made.
I bought a pair on line last week and they were £20 off plus free delivery. They arrived the next day.
The style I wear are Derwent and my daughter has Tack.
Have you tried snow boots? My sister has just bought some and tested them yesterday and today - she's almost sold the idea onto me!
Yep, MarzBar, that's what I ordered but still they leaked, so I don't know if I'm just unlucky! Paid quite a bit for some Romika TopDryTEX boots a year of so ago, and they really hurt at the ankles so took ages to bed them in around the house, when they finally felt comfortable I found they weren't waterproof at all, but too late for me to do much about it now. So ordered a pair of snow boots and my feet were soaked after just one time of wearing, and only walking through wet grass (I think both pair are leaking through top of the foot). I'm a bit stumped. Looked at the wellies but but they're just too uncomfortable for walking distance (I have got quite sensitive feet). Just wondered if anyone had actually worn a pair of snow boots and they were tried and tested in proper wet conditions, not just ok for skimming across the snow or wet ground, but that the actuall tops (instep) were waterproof too.
