  Completely agree! Birdy's is a sweet, inoffensive cover but the original has so much more heart and soul.

  Three that spring to mind.
  
  The slow section of the Moody Blues song "question". such genuine emotion in that voice.
  
  "You'll never walk alone'. (Not cos im a Liverpool fan, but because its such a positive song and uplifting.)
  
  Abba , "The winner takes it all"...first heard this the day after my fiancee dumped me for one of my friends.

  John Martyn's album Grace & Danger is full of chills-down-the-spine moments. Sweet Little Mystery is probably the best known song from it but Lookin' On and Baby Please Come Home are equally great. Even the guitar in Baby Please Come Home sounds like it's got a broken heart.
