Balls

After I'd bought a new plastic ball for the grandchildren at Poundland this morning, it occurred to me how things had changed since my young days. In those days balls were something that you cared for - they might get stuck in trees but they definitely didn't grow on them! If a ball went over a wall you made serious attempts to recover it; climbing over the wall if you were brave or knocking on the front door and politely asking for it back if you weren't.

As for tennis balls, we used them time and again until they were totally and completely bald. No, "New balls, please" for we users of the local council tennis courts.

I think most of them used to end up in my garden - nobody ever asked for them back. I moved into a new place (without a garden) in February, and there was one in the loft....

    Deep!

    Sorry :(

Forever having to go knock on a neighbours door to get a ball back when we were kids, used to play out in the back street, so was forever hoofing it over the wall playing passie :D

Sorry, I'm not sure what you are getting at? Surely people still ask for their ball back if it goes over their neighbours?

Well balls and banquets do seem to be a thing of the past, came across the Pallisers on TV the other day they always seemed to be having banquets and balls haven't seen it on TV for years! I remember watching it with my Mom when I was a young girl, I so wanted to be a Victorian and wear the pretty dresses! :) Why don't we have banquets and balls anymore????
