What are your five favourite sitcoms ever made?

Here are mine,in no particular order;

Fawlty Towers
The Rise & Fall Of Reginald Perrin ( original Rossitter series)
dinnerladies
Father Ted
Green Wing

( Blackadder would be in there somewhere but their are 4 different ones and I couldn't choose between them)

    Blackadder
    Dad's Army

I wish it were a top 6 so I could also put Porridge in. But WHTTLL has the better theme tune so in it goes! And no room for Only Fools and Horses either. This is hard.

    Mmm..interesting.

so far the concensus seems to be that the 70s was the golden age of sitcoms.
    personally,I disagree.
For me,the funniest sitcoms are from the nineties, but I suppose it all depends on your humour type.

    Keep postin' 'em! :)

I want to add Drop the Dead Donkey and I'm Alan Partridge to my list....it's bigger than five, I had trouble choosing. I wanted to put in Father Ted, Blackadder, Dear John, Watching, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Open All Hours, OF&H, The Young Ones, Rising Damp, Butterflies, Cheers, Colin's Sandwich, Chelmsford 123. I think I should stop now before I think of some more :D

Well here are my next five then:
    Open All Hours
    Yes Minister
    Man About The House
    The New Statesman
Till Death Do Us Part- a mixture of the controversial, the intelligent and the populist.

All good shouts there :) Don't know about TDDUP though, I only saw it when it was In Sickness & in Health. Did it change to that title in the 80's?

    This is difficult.
As far as British ones go,

    1. Father Ted
    2. Ideal, although it was showing the strain by the last series.
    3. Man about the House.
    4. George and Mildred.
    5. Up Pompeii

If I had a top ten these would be there, Porridge, Fawlty Towers, Rising Damp, Reginald Perrin and series 2 and 3 of Blackadder.

As for American Fraiser and Dream on stand out for me. Really wish series 3 to 6 of Dream On would come to DVD.
