From American idol, the only standout contestants have been Kelly clarkson And Allison iraheta. Over the nine seasons of AI, these are the only unique and captivating voices that I have found.

I've thought for years that Fantasia Burrino's American Idol run was one of the best ever; no matter what she was given to sing she was always brilliant in my opinion! She had such a unique voice and great stage charisma - I love watching her performances on Youtube when I'm bored or want to cheer myself up.
A mystery she has never been marketed over here, and a shame that her star has somewhat faded in America too (I know she's gone and done Broadway etc but I thought she was going to be HUGE internationally after the show).
