I've been vegetarian ( or as I prefer, meat-free) for over 20 years simply because I don't see why I should eat a living thing just because I'm hungry.
That doesn't mean that I don't think some meat and fish dishes look and smell delicious!
If other people think its fine than I certainly wouldn't force my views on them.
Preparing meat free food at home is pretty easy.
The only frustrations I have is the lack of choice when eating out(I.e. the dull vegetarian "option" in the singular!).Although I must admit things have improved slightly in recent years.
Also eating abroad can be a problem. I went to the Canaries earlier this year and had to live on omelettes and margarita pizzas for a fortnight!
Never say never again, but I really can't see myself ever got back to meat.
I like meat and consider vegetarians to be faddist, however my young grandson was born a vegetarian and has never liked or eaten meat, although he does like bacon flavour crisps.:D
That's fine, until you get to the deluxe £3 a bag versions, meat flavour crisps have never even been in the same room as an animal let alone contain any.
Yes, my ex was vegetarian, and I recently became pescetarian. I would go full veggie, but I eat little as it is and I genuinely think I'd make myself ill going full veggie. I avoid fish as much as possible though, and even then I only eat haddock, tuna, and salmon, no shellfish or anything either.

The chicken walked through the cooking pot wearing stilts .:)
For animal welfare issues vegan is the only ethical diet as the milk and egg industry are just as cruel as the meat. From my pov there are no decent strongmen/bodybuilders who are vegan. That is my main reason over taste TBH.
Did it make you sick? I ask cause my dad has been veggie nearly all his life and once he ate a voulevant with chicken in at a buffet unknowingly and was violently sick after.
I snagged a freebie sandwich at work once, believing it to be veggie. It stayed down for about 10 seconds and a colleague said that the anaemic-looking tomato in that pile of sarnies was actually salmon. I couldn't digest it.

I used to be vegetarian but of recent years stopped.
Anyway, for various reasons which I cannot be bothered to go into on here I am going the whole hog and cutting out all animal products from my diet as of New Years Day.

Agreed.
I'm a meat eater but have a couple of preachy vegetarian friends who go somewhat silent when I point this out when they look down their nose at us and our carnivorous ways.
I also know a pescetarian who will moan about cruel people eating meat (poor animals etc) and yet she fails to see that fish are animals and meat too. Weird.
No, our species is supposed to be omnivorous. I'm not being a dick, it's science.
And yes of course you can choose to not eat meat, but to do so sensibly you need to find substitutions for the nutrients you're not getting from meat.
We are not supposed to be omnivores, we can choose and live perfectly happily on veggie diet.
We are much more like herbivores than carnivores, we have a jaw that moves side to side, we do not have canines good enough that will easily rip meat from a carcass, we do not have a snout long and thin to bury into said carcass, we are closer to herbivores .

Every few months I really think about it, but it feels like a heck of a fuss to try to do when working shifts and on your own.
So convenient to nip out for a Nandos or McDs, or have a good fry up for breakfast.
I would like to see more vegetarian takeaways, when I stop and think about it, eating meat just doesn't feel right.
Turkey dinner all the trimmings.
A great pork roast with cracking
grilled bacon butty (with rind on),
At the same time I feel guilty about the animals. Part of me wishes that it was illegal to eat meat and then I wouldn't be tempted.
I started eating meat again in my early 20s because
a) I couldn't really remember anymore why I was a veggie
b) at the time I hardly ate any vegetables so didn't have a very varied or nutritious diet.
and c) bacon smells too good!
After some discussion we made a deal, I gave up meat, she started eating fish and we met half way as pescetarians where we have been for 20+ years.
Neither of our young children are however as it's up to them to decide so they both eat meat.
Mind....blown

No, as humans we have a choice, we are perfectly able to live well naturally as herbivores.
Exactly, now compare them to non-vegan bodybuilders.

And yes, I do know what I'm talking about. I'm a zoologist and have studied primate evolution extensively.
Agreed.

I'd completely endorse that.

We can live as herbivores quite happily.
Well good then, so you understand that we are closer to a herbivore than a carnivore.
