Humax to TV and VCR and DVDrecorder connections

Currently I have the Humax box connected to Tv and VCR as per digram in the handbook and so the scart connection from the VCR to Tv is via PVR. It seems to all work OK, TV shows the VCR output if tape is played and goes back to showing PVR output once the VCR playback is stopped. However, as there is a second scart on the VCR I wonder if I am missing something by not connecting that one directly to TV? Also, if I also wanted to connect DVD recorder, I presume that I would have to use this second VCR scart for that purpose and all the scart cables would be daisy chained to a single Tv scart socket?

The method shown with the two TV SCARTs and the DVD player kind of assumes that both SCARTs support RGD which is rare. The one SCART solution assumes that the VCR has RGB passthrough which is only likely with newish VCRs.

I'm surprised they don't suggest connecting the DVD player between the digital box and the TV. Has anyone any practical experience of this?
