ok, now i'm fully aware that most us shows, including the daily show, have gone on hiatus until the new year but the announcement at the end of tonight's excellent episode both intruiged and concerned me.
the announcer said "and that's the end for the daily show on more4 but the global edition returns on monday january 10th".
to me, that seems to say that they're only going to have the global edition from january onwards.
i hope i'm wrong ..

Bloomin' shame, love that show. The coverage of the 'attack' on Prince Charles car with John Oliver was far funnier than anything I saw on British television
Where did you hear about this?
Tonight's episode was awesome too.
If Comedy Central UK don't pick it up then i'll just have to download it.
I can't believe they've binned it - it's been a huge part of my day for years.
Bastards.
Same here. Which websites show it, anyone know?
Gutted that it'll be harder to watch it in the future.
I think the show is at its best when Jon is passionate over something, like he is with 9/11 first responders bill.
This is how I keep up to date with American news! Now the only alternative I have is Fox "news".
They bumped quality off CH4 and onto More4, now More4 is becoming junksville.
And now they have the queen of tat former BBC1 controller Jay Hunt running things!
ITV1 has managed to become even more confused than last year, CH5 is going for celebs. BBC1/2 is direct from 1973 and all the rest import derivative US shows and jam the air with endless commercials.
TV has become shit.
What's wrong with Fox News?
it was bad enough when fx dropped colbert.
i just hope that there is a clever boradcaster out there that will snap up the rights and even combine it with colbert.
i dont care what channel what time slot or even if there is a weeks delay.
lol
I don't think you could necessarily get it from a website to watch like you'd do on iplayer - the streaming content on the daily show website is blocked to people from the UK.
I know plenty of sites that will just let you download the episode as and when it's released though, so i'll do that.
i'll also definitely email comedy central uk to see if they have any plans to pick it up.
This really is the most asinine decision I’ve seen in ages. Just this last month they’ve had Obama, Blair and Brown on and the show has generated shitloads of free publicity for them over the years as it’s often referenced on the news, Newsnight etc. FFS Stewart and his Daily Show pals even did some sold-out gigs when they visited the UK a few years back so they can’t claim the audience isn’t there! I’m assuming that C4 holding onto the Global Edition will prevent anyone else from showing the rest of the week’s shows and if that’s the case it’s a very childish move on C4’s part.
The show has gone from twice daily showings with repeats when it’s on hiatus to once only Mon-Fri with no repeats when on hiatus to now only once a week. A staggeringly disrespectful treatment of one of the finest shows ever.
I think the way things are going everything will be downloaded in the next few years as no one will want to watch TV unless the show is shown days after the US.
Daily Show has had me in tears with laughter before, but last nights was just incredible television, Stewart at his absolute best, was close to tears by the end of it.
Should be, really. I imagine the HBO demographic and The Daily Show's is pretty close.
It'd be good if Comedy Central just stopped blocking it in the UK - I assume the reason they do now is that it's competition for the same thing on 4OD. In January that problem will go away. Whatever happens about UK rights, I'll be sure to keep watching
And when it would be on, January 11-14th More4 are showing...Grand Designs, 7:55-9pm each day. Brilliant. However, they do deserve some credit for bringing it to the UK in the first place - I'd have never discovered it otherwise.
it should work on there is sky are smart enough to pick it up
they could pick it up with colbert and even at 11pm that double header would get viewers plus both shows are available in HD.
I would love to see BBC4 pick this up, but wouldn't the blatant shilling of the book/cd in the final segment potentially cause some editing problems for the BBC??
