It's in the passcode settings. Under the 'Allow Access When Locked' section turn off Picture Frame.

You can't turn it off without setting a passcode lock. To do this, go to Settings>General>Passcode Lock>Turn Passcode on

You'll then be prompted to key in a pass lock code twice... There's the option here to disable picture frame mode... when locked.

But you can't disable it without a pass lock.

Edit: roush beat me to the punch

    Hi,

The time is displayed on the top of the screen, why replicate it in a live icon?

the calendar icon changes once every 24 hours... minimal battery drain.

the clock icon would require constant updating.... increased battery drain.

what do you want, longer battery life or a clock icon that drains it just because you can't look higher to see the actual time.
plus, before you unlock the phone to see said icon, you've already seen the date and time.

Lol, i knew battery drain would be the answer.

A wrong clock is a bad clock. It shouldn't even be shown if its wrong!

everything on any device has an impact on battery life

it's just an icon.. the actual clock is correct though
the iphone/ipad isn't the only device to use a static icon to access a clock.

and besides, the icon is correct twice a day

Oh that actual icon! I misread the post. I thought they were talking about a clock on the lock screen.

Obviously if there were widgets it would be possible but not on ipad.
