Bt can't bid for the FTA rights. Eurosport already have the pay tv rights. So the FTA partner must be free to air.
But they can bid for the pay rights when they become available (I was the understanding they were both sold at the same time and BT would most likely want exclusivity)

The French don't want an exclusive pay only set up
BBC bought Sky into it to stop ITV or Channel 4 from getting it, BBC saving a lot of money not having full rights to that.
Im aware oh how it went down, but still, FOM could have said no, they didn't and why?? because they saw the £££ signs and went for it and again why? because money talks!
Because it was on ITV3 who don't usually cover sport.
Coverage started on ITV4 this morning, and then was moved over to ITV3 in the afternoon. I probablly didn't notice, the poor picture quality, in previous years, because I was still a SKY TV subscriber and could view the coverage on all of ITV's HD channels.

They were just renewed. Which is why the FTA partner not being agreed yet is a bit of a mystery.

Sky renewed the US Open last year, I think for a further five years. Australia is the next Grand Slam to come to market.
They've just renewed it until 2018.

Money talks. F1 said they'd never go pay TV in the UK and look at it now. This could asily do the same...

ITV has always shown British players when they've been on televised courts.

On Freeview, the PQ for ITV4 is pants but on digital satellite, even in SD, its pretty good...

I agree - ITV4 on satellite is OK. Incidentally the pic on Rai Sport 1 is terrible.
Agree. She is very good and knows all the players. As the reigning Wimbledon Singles Champion, she carries a certain gravitas too.
