Question from a relative newbie. Can someone explain to me why most FMs have 'Forum Member' as status but occasionally one will have 'Inactive Member'.

There is a newbie with 3 posts who is 'Forum Member' and another that joined this month, has 16 posts and is an 'Inactive Member'. I am just curious as to how DS works.

Inactive means they have been banned. Sometimes temporarily, sometimes permanent.

A PBU is a Previously Banned User and they often return and are even more often spotted very quickly as it's hard to hide their posting style.

The "Inactive Member" status means that poster is banned form making anymore posts, probably permanently. But I suspect you know this.

Also, "Guest" means that they've closed their account.

Sometimes with older users you'll see their un-hyperlinked name and "Posts:" as "n/a".

Older users were banned as "Banned User" until sometime ago.

Why is is that PBUs always ask "what does inactive member mean?" "What's a PBU?" "What's a WUM?" I'm sure it convinces no-one.

'Inactive Member' means that person has been banned (as far as I'm aware).

Being an Inactive Member usually means they are off searching for a new email address and VPN ;):D

Are you saying you think I am a PBU? I can assure you I am not, I have never been here before and these terms are new to me. I have not seen them before.

I think with the onslaught of recently registered trolls, people may be more suspicious of newbies but there's nothing wrong in asking. I didn't know what PBU meant until I asked recently and I certainly don't think your a troll :)

Thank you Izzy, I realise that people will believe what they want to believe and I will not waste words arguing my case. Hopefully my posts will prove my worth in time.

Don't worry, Duchesse. They're perfectly reasonable questions. When you're new, you can't be assumed to know everything! :) I mean, my account is several years old, but I don't post that often and don't know everything either...

I think that because there have been quite a few (very bad) trolls this year, and PBUs, some people are just a bit suspicious of anyone and everyone.

On another forum the giveaway line for every WUM and PBU was 'how do you quote on here?'
