  Make sure the Sky box is plugged into the top "Line 1/Decoder" SCART. Use the INPUT button on the remote to select L1 as indicated on the front panel display.
  
  Then you can record whatever the Sky box is showing, either a live TV channel or playing back a recording made to the Sky box's hard drive.

  Make sure you set the recording speed to the desired level. Few times when archiving I've forgot and had to do it again.
