I did a training course once which was run by a woman from up north somewhere who pronounced book like buck. Wish I could remember where she came from.
I have heard it, even some t.v. presenters and newsreaders say it. I think it is because they don't want to sound common and are trying to be posh
What annoys me more though is mainly young people who say "berk" or cerk berk, or Robin Herd, and any "oo" sound which they stretch out.
Book buck took tuck look luck – they all sound the same to me and I’m from the midlands.
The only time I’ve heard different was in Stoke, where book/look/took were pronounced buke/luke/tuke. I think the scouse accent may be similar too.
You midlanders pronounce buck the way that southerners say book though. In the case of the Northwestern lady I heard she pronounced book the way that we down here say buck.
Never have i ever heard anyone, other than maybe those with a foreign accent, pronounce book as buck!?!?!
I've heard a few relatives pronounce 'book' as 'boook' (like 'Boo' but with 'k' on the end) but they are from Staffordshire. Most of them time I don't hear or (as far I know) pronounce 'book' any different from 'buck').
Buck rhymes with duck. Book rhymes with took.
Agreed. Book, took, buck, tuck, duck - almost the same apart from the first letter. I think might have a slightly deeper 'u' sometimes.

Possibly a local accent somewhere, definitely needs careful typing...
A library buck.
Buck him Danno.
Vehicle log buck.
Nope.
"give me 10 bucks" and "give me 10 books" would be determined by the context.
The only other pronuncation I can think of is rhyming book with Luke which to my ears sounds strongly Northern.
I don't think, OP excepted, that anyone knows, nor has heard, anyone that does either.

How the hell are you lot saying it
This ^
Maybe it's a 'ull thing.
One being too common and unable to pronounce words correctly.
This is what I'm wondering
My head hurts and I need more sleep ...............
