The Supremes, The Shirelles, The Ronettes, The Crystals, The Bangles, The Belle Starrs, LaBelle, Sister Sledge, The Pointer Sisters...we're all doing their stuff way before auto tune, etc.
The inequality of power within the music biz does persist but that reflects society generally.
And I think it was Godard who might have suggested that we all prostitute ourselves to the system we live in....

I like them and they do have potential. I wouldn't say they were greatest girl group of all time but their singles and album have been pretty good. There aren't many other girl groups in the UK at the moment apart from The Saturdays and Stooshe.

Walk Like an Egyptian is my favourite song from an all-female group ever. My no 2 would probably be the Velvelettes' Needle in a Haystack.
I like both these groups especially Bananarama.
I have always had a soft spot for Bellefire following their big Irish but mediocre UK hit Perfect Bliss.
