Noticed on saturday that the BBC HD Picture is a head of BBC1 by about 2 seconds never had that before, sky sports1 SD is ahead of skysports HD1 by about 2 secs, i just find it strange that the HD feed is ahead of standard BBC1.

Possibly because HD comes direct from television centre.
The standard definition first goes through the BBC network to your local region before being encoded and broadcast.

Also, could be due to the equipment.

I have Freeview TVs in 2 downstairs rooms - both built in no STB - and if you tune both into the same channel and stand in the hall one is definately slightly behind the other.
