I know. Surely they could have come up with something a bit more daring?

I went for Mauritania :) . IIRC, it has been a pointless answer a few times.

    Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum but I wanted to clear up something regarding the "John Bercow" answer on yesterdays show.
I am the contestant who gave that answer and jabegy's post yesterday 17.29 is correct. I did say Bercow not Berscle as they said on the show. It sounded like Berscow because of my regional accent (Fermanagh) I prounounce it Berc/ow. What they didnt show yesterday was Immediately after I said it I emphasised the Cow part (like the animal), but that was edited out. We queried it with the producer at the end of the round but he said his decision was final and he wouldnt change his mind. He said I clearly said Berscle, which I didn't. Its especially annoying because a) it would have got us through and b) they allowed an answer on one of last weeks shows when a contestant said Ryan Locter instead of Lochte (whats the difference ?) Anyway just wanted to clear that up.

Richard, I think the producers were very unfair in not accepting your answer.

If you try saying Bercow in a "Norn Iron" accent you inevitably put an "s" between the Ber and the Cow.

I noticed that you looked a bit miffed. They do seem to play it a bit loose with the rules regarding pronunciation sometimes. Plus it really annoyed me today when Alexander steered the lad towards going for a safer answer when he was clearly going to go for a riskier one and would've got it wrong.

At least yours was only a £1,000 jackpot I suppose - if it was the £20,000+ one a few weeks ago it might have been a bit harder to take

    Thats very true,
really felt for those two girls. They went out because of that.

They do seem quite hit and miss as to what they allow as a correct answer. E.g. If the second pair had corrected the pronunciation of Lochte, would they have got the point instead?

Unlucky Richard. Any tips for filling in the application form by the way, my friends are applying.

I can't wait for the "women you've got to have sex with before you die round"

Maybe that is the Katie Price question. :D

    Moving very quickly onwards

I went for Central African Republic and both Congoes ((Dem Rep and Rep)
So 1 pointless for me, I do like these Geography questions.

Just tell your friends to try and put something witty down about themselves and have a few interesting facts to hand. To be honest its more about the piece you do to the video camera at the audition than what you have on your form. Even though it ended the way it did for us. we are still glad we went on and would recommend it to anyone
