Probably? - but with a UK standard (across both Freeview and Freesat) it makes much greater sense for providers to use YouView - obviously it will be a bit slow initially, but once decent numbeers are out there it should rapidly improve.

My understanding is the STB manufacturer's are only responsible for software to interface with their hardware. YouView retaining control of everything else.

So I would presume in such a case YouView would just update the software.

Freesat youview box is it really needed ?
At this time many boxes can link on line for bbc iplayer and itv etc... so software update could give more links to tv companies like 4 and 5 players.
Also you can record shows and freeze shows too.
Many tv channels have plus hour for you to keep up with shows and some even have sister channels that will repeat later in the week too.... so why youview?
If the box worked with both freesat and freeview at the same time and record on two channels at the same time each service and internet links too like the box on both services do now we could be talking ...
yes you can rewind epg a week and get shows on net is OK but is it needed?
Most shows are repeated many times over the year...with all the cuts...

Freesat has mentioned for a good year (since the day they announced ITV player was available at least) that ...4OD and Demand 5 are coming soon....

Yet no info on an actual date of when....

Only on G2 though (unless Humax decide upon further developments)

I believe they have in the past said that 4oD and Demand 5 will be coming soon, without any reference to G2.

Freesat, and particularly Emma Scott, don't have the slightest clue what they doing - I wouldn't pay much attention to what they might say.

...kinda misleading folks into buying equipment, by stating that these services are coming soon (a year + waiting is not what I class as coming soon)... even reviewers in magazines/websites based tgeur reviews of devices based on certain services becoming available.

Freesat needs to be more informative into what they are doing..... theyhave a website, and channel 999 , so why not update it.

Even the leaflets available instore had errors....

As Muzer stated, Freesat made no reference that the On demand services from CH4 and FIVE would be only available to G2 devices.
