Doubleing-up on 'The Lady Vanishes'

The 1979 version with Cybil Shepherd and Elliot Gould is being shown on Film 4 at 14.45.

Then the BBC re-make is being shown tonight at 20:30.

Has this sort of thing ever happened before in British broadcasting? Two different versions being shown on the same day and by different broadcasters.

    Over Christmas the original Wizard of Oz was on both TCM and C5 within a few days of each other.

    I remember once BBC2 repeated a Porridge Christmas special at the same time as Channel 4 aired the feature film.

    According to one paper today the BBC is claiming tonight's film is not a remake - it's a new version based on the original book which inspired the Hitchcock film and the BBC version will include considerable differences.

    I see. Thank you for all of the replies. I'll be watching both versions soon - I love the Hitchcock original.
