Rebecca is now an ambassador of Liverpool

I mentioned it in my little review about when I seen her tonight an the home coming, however I thought it was great news and deserved a thread.

Tonight the Lord Mayor of Liverpool came on stage after Rebecca's set and handed her a plaque, and announced she was an inspiration etc. And he made her an ambassador of Liverpool!!!

Haha, Rebecca isn't an ambassador of anywhere.

Remember when Simon made that absurd remark about her being an 'ambassador of the UK'?!

Talk about being above your station...

Hey, I like Rebecca, I think she's lovely. Good on her for getting honoured. Nothing wrong with having a little fun, though. I'm about as far from a grouch as you can get! All about the fun, me :D

    Is this a joke?!?! :S

Really don't mean to be rude...but an ambassador? She's only singing on a bloody TV show!

I think the term is used in a fairly loose sense. If you come from a certain place and achieve things or conduct yourself in such a way as to inspire some pride in others from that place, then like it or not you may regarded as an unofficial (possibly with joke plaque and certificate from an official dignitary) ambassador. It is not a contracted or paid position. Just a way for appreciation to be shown and for a local dignatory to get a positive photo op.:)

Isn't she the non-moving 'singer' with the luminous lips? Sade does it way better, and she can sing too.

Good for Rebecca as she a good role model on how to be a classy woman/Girl.

And before the cher fans jump on and start with she had a kid at 17. Yes she did the very same Cher is now but yet still came out of it with Class something Cher should learn.

How odd, to be made an ambassador for singing on the X factor?

Nice for her, and I like her but sorry find it a wee bit over the top.
