Hi there, almost brain fried with reading reviews for phones and not getting any insperation!
Looking to get her one of those touch screen models that has wi-fi and email and easy to use, a decent battery life, something in the range of say £100 or so, any advice would be appreciated, she's not the type to have her phone constantly by her side glued to her hand like some folk so a contract might not be the best option If I knew what I was talking about that is, so feel free to suggest a make and model.
Thanks in advance

£10 a month contract or Sim free for a £100, what does Sim free mean? sorry i only have a dial and text phone so god help me when the work goes ipad and a live database! which the boss is wanting us to do, Embrace Technology! he says!
Thanks agian
Now at the moment only vodafone sell the phone so you'd have to get it unlocked if she plans to use another network.
Edit, just saw your post newbee. Vodafone have this one. Talk talk have a different more expensive version. Sim free means the phone comes off contract. You just get the phone. Then youcan either buy a sim contract or get a pay as you go sim
MB downloads limits, I don't know or can't quantify what this means, some more advice woul;d be appreciated, the clocks ticking away for xmas!
Thanks in advance
Whats a bargain!
When you download an app what are the average file sizes, I need advice on this as i don't know what, say, what is 250mb a month in as far as size is concerned,
Thanks in advamce
:D......
Her data allowance will mostly be used watch video on the move (e.g. iPlayer or YouTube) or if she streams music (e.g. Spotify).
I'd say 250MB would be OK for a "light user". I'm on this myself and haven't had a problem (but I have WiFi at home and at work, so use 3G data rarely).
Thanks for the reply, it's a bit more clearer now all i need is some one to explain "whats a bargain"
one of the best rated phones around.

Did they possibly read the thread title and decided you were looking for a phone to replace your wife.
surprised nobody has recommended this one ....
Phone for the wife .....
Sorry ... i'll get my coat
I hate it when items cost more to ship than the actual RRP.
lol
I must admit, she would be probably be happier with her call and text phone but she is interested in having a smart phone so she can be in better touch with the daughters and grand children and friends, plus, it would help drag us in to touch with technology, we have to do this at work so it might help, roll on the pension! or might that be paid through a smart device!
I was in the same boat as you, never been very interested in phones, but wanted to buy an entry-level smartphone for my wife.
Searching around online, reading reviews, and asking friends, I finally went for the Nokia Lumia 610 (I couldn't find a decent deal on the 710 which is apparently better value)
It's currently available sim-free from Carphone Warehouse at around £110, much cheaper or even free on contract of course.
So far no problems, but it is definitely entry level in terms of specs. Build quality and appearance seems excellent for the money though.
My wife is pleased, it probably wouldn't suit a heavy user, but it's fine for her needs with loads of "bells and whistles" she's not even tried.
When is it getting a Jelly Bean update?
Next year sometime I guess. Samsung have confirmed it as one of their devices that'l be getting the update but no date as to when.
Thanks again
You will always get more out of a smartphone if you both own one....Good luck.
