Although Michael Moon has always been a character who has a lot of negative traits : disloyal, manipulative, self-pitying ; his latest crime is the lowest of the low. You could at least see that in his own mind he was able to justify what he did. When he was pretending to make up with his father you could see that in his mind it was justified because of the dysfunctional childhood he had suffered through.
This latest story with Jean is very uncomfortable. His cruel manipulation of a vulnerable woman who suffers from mental health problems is very disturbing to watch. I can't see any redemption for his character.
What's everyone else's views?

Michael wants to pay so that he can have a say in the wedding; Janine used to boast about controlling everything because she was paying.
He was also one of my favourite characters ! That has made this current story even more unpalatable. There is nothing that can explain how he has manipulated her and enjoyed doing it.:(
Yes but he gave Janine money for the wedding and she just spent it on herself rather than using it for the wedding. That didn't make sense, she just gave a reason that she just flittered it away but didn't say what on.
She's manipulating Michael too.
She knows he's struggling to find the sums of money needed it the unrealistic timescales she's setting him. I think she's hoping he'll end up deep in debt so she'll be able to control HIM, keep him in thrall by only paying off his creditors when they threaten violence (or after...) and doling out 'spending money' to him as she pleases - like a pet.
She has a cruel streak and I think would enjoy 'breaking' him and making him dependent on her.
But I'm pretty sure Michael's intent is to marry her in the belief the pre-nup has no legal merit, then stitch her up for half of her fortune as a divorce payout.
There's no love there - he just sees Janine as someone else to be exploited
Basically they are both nasty pieces of work, and deserve each other.
I don't understand why it so important for him. Why does it bother him?
I'm still undecided as to whether he is in love with Janine or whether he is marrying her with a long term plan to separate her from her money!
Hardly 'paying for it.' Jeans £8,000 is a drop in the ocean as far as the cost of the tasteless pantomime Janine has planned goes
I personally hope Derek gets to hear that Michael has defrauded Jean, and decides to 'collect' it back for her ....
Let's see if Janine and Michael are still playing 'happy couples' when Michael learns that Janine used to earn her money on her back too - we've all heard his opinion of prostitutes when Janine wanted to hire Whitney as a live-in childminder. .....
I don't know why she did that.
BIB: Michael is a manipulator and likes to be in control
Same, I can't figure out whether he's in love with Janine or her money.
Jean's three & a half Gs will more than cover the deposit on Gormless Hall.
Add Alfie's 'war chest' into the mix ...... along with Jean's remaining four & a half ......then not a bad day's work if you ask me.
By the time Janine has chipped in, Michael should have enough change for a nice, dapper penguin suit.
Not a fan of Michael Moon the Matchstick Manipulator?
And
Archie Mitchell was supersonic?
They're similar. They both manipulate people behind closed doors, for instance. They're quiet, calculating, avoid physical confrontation but are sharp-tongued and get some kind of psychological high from being the person in control.
His treatment of Ronnie is reminiscent of Archie the Terrible, too

I was gutted when she changed her mind, hopefully he gets it in the end.
I really enjoyed watching him until this Jean storyline.
BIB:
How can Jean be so trusting at her age? Blimey! I wish she would grow up and realise Michael for who he is and stop being so thick.
Can anyone of his fans please tell what they see in him.
BIB: he is evil
I honestly don't know why Jean trusts him though...they're pretty muc telling us that she's thick. Which I think is a bas thing.
Hate Michael for taking advantage.
