Simon Rattle
Brilliant news for a limited but appreciated small company of music fans.

Personally I prefer Bernard Haitink

Because he is adored ....possibly . I'm pleased.
Way back in the early 1980s I made a decision to acquaint myself with Classical Music pretty much starting from scratch
Simon Rattle was then the wonderkid of British Classical Music with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and I seem to remember he did a Mahler cycle which I recorded from Radio 3 on a radio cassette player.......that's how I built up an early collection before I started buying things.......:p
I think Rattle has always had a reputation as a Mahler specialist.......
Pleased to see a classical music thread, must be a first!
